Sac, let me first say your cameras have stunning visual quality! Are these hard wired cameras or wireless? So what your saying is your still having the same problem but it has moved to a different camera? How about some more screen shots of the cam setup screens? CBR is Constant Bit Rate, VBR is Variable Bit Rate, set this to VBR or Variable Bit Rate on all your cameras and see if this helps a little. Also, although having audio is nice, it sucks up bandwidth like no other option. You might turn off audio on any cameras that just doesn't have to have it.

The cameras are wired & are all IPC-HDW5231R-Z was highly recommended by the crew here on the forum so that's why I got them. They do have a great picture & very good night vision. Ive had the problem with all the cameras sometimes one sometimes the other but the door one was notorious for having it. CBR is default setting to my knowledge I haven't messed with that but I will give the VBR a shot. I will also start getting some more screenshots that's going to be a lot of them right there. Excellent choice on cameras, way to go team IPCT! Now as for audio, on the cams that you have to have sound on, play with the settings to see how far you can lower the setting. This will help save a little bandwidth. You can also play this the Encoding mode to see which on works best for your system.

Are you recording to sd card as well? If not I recommend to do so as a backup in case of issues with BI or th BI PC. If you are recording to SD card have you tried playing the same clip from the SD card?

I imagine you already tried unticking the RTSP time option as in this thread?

Just to recap:

Your System:
Optiplex 7040 w/Intel i7-6700, 3.40Ghz, 16Gb ram, Windows 10 Pro ver. 1703, 64 bit
500Gb operating system drive & 4Tb WD Purple footage drive
HD hardware acceleration Yes (H.264)
BlueIris Build:?
Direct to disc
20 fps in the cameras
Cameras: 6ea. IPC-HDW5231R-Z
Switch: ProSAFE JGS516PE
Anti-Virus: Webroot
System Scheme: Modem/Router->Switch->Cameras
..................................|->BI/PC
__________________________________________________________________________________

Changes:
Can you list the changes you have made up to this point? (this might be of use to others with a similar problems later)

Questions:
What BI build are you running? (I think I read you were up-to-date but not sure)
Have you checked to see if your Optiplex 7040 BIOS and hardware drivers are up-to-date?
Have you checked to see if your camera firmware is up-to-date?
Have you checked to see if your switch firmware is up-to -date?
Have you changed your system scheme so that your BI/PC is also going through the switch?
Have any of the changes you have made, made any difference in your CPU/RAM usage (+/-)?

Suggestion:
Find a network analyzer (limited time free trial) and look at whats on your network and how much its costing you as far bandwidth. SolarWinds is a creditable company and offer free trials if you sign up (Windows 10 or server (not affiliated). FYI, install and config is long and difficult! I will look for a simpler one when I get a chance.

Its been about a month & continue to experience the same issues. Its only good when i reboot the pc for awhile but within 24 hours she is back to the same. I swapped the POE switch out yesterday to rule it out & still doing it. When i reboot my PC- (running BI as a service) it starts playing smooth again & actually showing cars on the screen that i can hear in front running & parked. Before the restart of the PC it would show nothing on the live view monitor. Also recorded clips are choppy & time on the cameras skipping like crazy some not all. I guess im going to start to check my network like the brother said earlier but anyone else want to take a stab at this? Any help would be appreciated. Here are a few examples of what i came home to today. Thanks, Ed

I'd try having BI write to your other HDD for a while and see if this issue goes away.

My reasoning:
I had a similar issue on my NVR after adding a second HDD to it. When the NVR started using the new HDD, many recordings experienced this same skipping and lost video time. I chalked it up to some kind of issue between the NVR and the new drive. I didn't dive into it further, as I've discontinued use of that NVR for anything but a glorified 8 port PoE switch. Moved the HDD over to a PC with BI and haven't had a problem since.

I'm not suggesting anything is wrong with your WD purple... but there might be a compatibility or driver issue with the PC's SATA system that is causing the direct-to-disk streams to get chopped instead of properly recorded.

Soon as I get home from this trip I will most definitely give that a try. All recordings to go to the operating system hard drive like if the purple did not exist. Worth a shot thanks for the tip!

Take a look at this thread - BI running VERY high CPU 95%+ (see Pic)

Not sure if your issue might be an Intel graphics driver problem but I was experiencing the same issues as you and tried numerous settings and finally said what the hell and followed the info on that thread and as of now it has solved my issues. I followed the information NoloC and tinker3433 posted in the thread. Might be worth a shot.

If you have motion detection set on your cameras, make sure your motion settings match exactly to the general stream settings. It should be in your camera settings, camera--> video-->code stream type, you should see a drop down box that lets you set the general stream, then drop down to motion settings. They HAVE to match or you will get skipping.

I have the same issue with one of my cameras as well. Difference is I'm only recording to SD card. I've set the camera to default and formatted the card but I still get laggy slowness, choppiness exactly like you have in the videos. It's good for like a day or two then the issue starts up. My playback time line is also a hot mess. I'm going to upgrade the firmware and try another SD card. So if it's your WD Purple then maybe my SD card is crapping out as well.

Happy New Year fellas! I'm back at it. Going to try this one first. Rolled back the Intel graphics driver & looks to be a huge difference already in cpu consumption. Going to monitor this for a few days & see how she does. I will report back. Here a few screen shots!Screenshot (94).png Screenshot (96).png Screenshot (100).png Screenshot (97).png Screenshot (98).png Screenshot (99).png Screenshot (101).png Screenshot (103).png

So its been over 24 hours & I have not restarted the BI PC. She is still running about 10% as a service (console closed) & about 30% with the BI console open. Video continues to be smooth as silk with no hiccups yet. I'm so happy!!! Screenshot (105).png Screenshot (106).png

Glad this worked for you. I was having the same issues and it was driving me crazy. Rolling back the driver finally did the trick for me as well.
