FYI, anyone searching about cameras for cold weather: I am running several Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turrets (and a Hik 4mp) and all are doing well below zero degrees Fahrenheit. We got down to -7 F last night and its been below zero for over 24 hours. No issues so far.

After reading a lot on this forum I finally decided to order the 5231R-Z from Andy. I am very curious how the quality turns out!

Anyone using the [NTSC]DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_EngSpnFrn_N_Stream3_V2.460.0000000.16.R.20170904 firmware on this cam?
Any problems or issue's you have found?

I see I am not the only one who has CRS!

Would be nice if Dahua could put out a decent, bug-free firmware update. I am still in the 20170309 (IIRC) firmware that @nayr recommended!

While that firmware is 2-3 versions old, my IP cameras are on a separate subnet, and my EdgeRouter keeps them inside their own sandbox.

W.T.F...I just upgraded the firmware and now I'm getting all sorts of odd issues. See attached pics. No live picture, just a grey screen. When I click on the settings tab I get no settings unless I switch to another tab and switch back then the settings show up. I have another camera open in another IE tab and it showing a live feed fine so it can't be the plugin. Can't access local storage SD card either. I've tried the PAL and NTSC version Andy directed me to on the dahuasecurity.com site and it seems to upgrade fine. I've set the camera to factory default as well. yes, you need to uninstall the old plugin..

Uninstalled it but I'm still getting a gray screen with no prompt to download the plug-in. I DO get the download plug-in prompt on my other camera.

Reinstalled so I could see my functioning camera again but still gray screen on the other one. Ugh...other suggestions?

Clear your browser cache? I don’t know if that would work or not.

What's the current recommendation for best firmware? I just got my camera and it came with "2.460.0000.15.R, Build Date: 2017-09-07". Also, where do I find the setting that disables the camera phoning home to China?

********after updated, please make a default on the camera, then should be ok, just try it.Remember all devices have to be factory defaulted after updated.

yes, maybe the plug-in not installed correctly, you can check on other browser, firefox, If you have a nvr can connect to the NVR or Connect to the smart pss.

Alright, now I'm pissed. I was perfectly happy with cheap, semi-crappy cameras off of Amazon. Then I found this forum. Then I found the Dahua threads. Then I found the 5231 thread. Then I ordered and installed one, great service from Andy. Now I'm going to be spending some money to upgrade all my cameras to 5231s, and add a few more in the process. This is costing me money!

The one I have looks at our back door and catches the driveway gate. When we turn on the floodlight, a single 50 watt LED, it switches back to color, daytime, mode. In night mode it "sees" all the way to the street, say 150 feet away, but I do have an 11 watt IR illuminator pointed to "wash" the driveway. Add in the great resolution and zoom, that actually works well, and these things are really great for the money. What's aggravating is I have to wait until the middle of January before I order more. Ratza kravitz fammus.
