Hello all,

Very new to the world of surveillance. Currently have 5 nest cams I ordered on boxing day, still sitting in boxes and ready for return.

I have 4 Dahua hdw5231r-z cameras on the way, along with an NVR4108-8p-4ks2.

Coming from the world of Arlo, my wife is used to the user-friendly layout of push notifications. So I am hoping to emulate that experience as much as possible.

If we are hoping to have push notifications (android) anytime motion is detected, is it better to roll with BI on a PC setup, or go forward with the NVR gdmss experience? We would prefer getting a notification with a screenshot of the motion being detected. Also, I understand TinyCam does not provide notifications.

Hoping the knowledgeable board can help me decide here.

Thanks in advance!

On android you dont get an image with the push using bi...dont know about the nvr...the difference is night and day between the two with much more functions and features available on BI..

Thanks fenderman.

What does the notification look like ? Email with just text ?

I could have sworn someone had a list of motion detected image alerts on their BI app

The push notification to the app is instant and shows up on the top as any other notification...you then log into the app and see all your alerts...it is smooth and fast.
You can send sms and attach an image (or a group image any cameras of your choosing)...
You can send an email that would include an image and or a video clip (you can set the duration of the clip)...
you can do any of these in combination
download the demo and see for yourself.

I was referring to the software demo...on the BI website...the mobile app will cost you 10.
you can see all the alert options and test sms and gmail...you will need to mobile app to test push...it nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Hands down BI has the best motion tracking capabilities than any consumer nvr or camera out there. $60 for the software license, $10 for the mobile app and install it on a PC somewhere in your house.

If your like me and want an SMS alert anytime a human is on your property and don't want a zillion alerts due to wind, dog, cats, bug...etc then BI is a must. NVRs suck for that. Now I do have a NVR myself that is recording motion only (and it records a TON of false alerts) with no alerts setup and I have BI pulling the feeds from the NVR and that's where I get my accurate alerts from.

Nice. I might be stuck with the NVR so this might be a viable option for me.

Did you do this because you originally started with an NVR but then moved to a PC with BI? Or did you originally plan to use both.

How are you able to set up the camera feed on both BI and the NVR. What hardware was needed to make that work ?

Sorry I meant it when I said I am new to all of this . Thanks to both of you for your input so far.
