Has anyone done any comparisons they can post between this and other low light cameras eg. Dahua Starlights or other Hik "Ultra Low Light" cameras?

There appears to be around a US$120 price premium over a Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z varifocal 2MP Starlight. (Going by AliExpress.)

I have an 85 version of this but it’s not ultra low light at all
Where in the product does it advertise ultra low light?

Just bought a whole system from Andy will be fitting at Xmas when visiting my brothers place
From all the feed back these seem to leave hikvision in the woods

Yes, you're better off doing that. I've got a Dahua 5231R-Z, a great camera once I got it set up with my Hik NVR, but it doesn't give me event markers on the video timeline like the Hik cameras do. So playing back the events is a pain, you can't just hit play and use the Smart Event feature to sequentially play them back. The built in microphone is a great feature (I've got four cameras out the front but only the 5231R-Z has sound.)

I did buy a DS-2CD2H35FWD-IZS Hik, but have been slack and have only now got around to actually fitting it. Be warned they don't have an on-board microphone, you need to wire up an external one.

I have one Dahua 5231R-Z and two more on the way. I dig the audio for use on my entry doors. I put a microsd card in it yesterday and I’m sorting out the ivs stuff on the camera. Using the nvr to continuous record.

I got one of these Hikvision DS-2CD2H35FWD-IZS cameras in last week, too.

Have you found a way to sequentially play through the events from your Dahuas? The only way I've been able to play them is to search for events, but then you can only play each one back individually- I can't find a way to continuously play them back together.

switching back to what Paul the original OP asked, has anyone tested the DS-2CD2H35FWD-IZS camera for is low light night time vision.
Also how many rules can you have for intrusion and line crossing?

I interested as have had an attempted break in to a vehicle parked outside by dummer and dummy in high vis shirts and the night time vision from HIK DS-2CD2342WD-I is poor.

Have you considered using additional IR lighting with the current DS-2CD2342WD-I (I assume you're already using the on-board IR?) The low light Hik's are good, but you're still going to need some low level light with them as well.

Has anyone connected a microphone to the DS-2CD2H35FWD-IZS ? There's nothing listed on Hikvision's data sheet under "Accessories" and nothing in the manuals that I could find. It has a 3.5mm plug - the data sheet says "single track", so it's a mono plug. I found this http://www.hikvision.com/ueditor/net/upload/2015-06-10/adb2bcea-e809-4728-a937-917b98c57a21.pdf , but it's generic for all their cameras. I'd rather not have to use a powered mic.

Yes and may use motion flood lights as well. The on-board IR is on.
Tonight will have a third DS-2CD2342WD-I at the front which will half the range length.

I did find my 5231R-Z wasn't so good in total darkness zoomed out to the widest angle. The inbuilt IR has a definite hot spot in the centre- optimised for being zoomed in tighter. Near the edges of the FOV it was basically dark. My 2.8mm Hik DS-2CD2342WD-I (4mp) had better full screen night vision using it's in built IR in the same position.

I've got the DS-2CD2H35FWD-IZS up and it appears to have better IR spread at the widest FOV. (I haven't got it up where I found the 5231R-Z lacking in IR spread, nor have I bothered testing them side by side.) Not having a built in mic for the price sucks though!

There are a few threads along those lines (Dahua on Hik NVR) already. Not much info on them regarding making the Dahua's perform more like a Hik when played back though.

Has anyone successfully added a microphone to this camera? I've plugged a powered microphone into the "Line In" but no matter what compression standard I choose there's no exterior audio recorded (some compression options give audio spikes.) I've enabled "Video and Audio" on the camera and NVR.

Edit: There is extremely soft audio with some codecs, but only from loud noises right next to the microphone. I'm using the Microseven microphone that Nayr had good results with.

Nobody has connected a microphone?? I'm stuck trying to work out if it's a camera fault or I've received two "broken" MicroSeven microphones.

Going by the specs the microphones are supposed to output 2.5Vp-p (peak to peak); however, I don't know what Hikvision class as a "Line Level" input. I don't have access to an oscilloscope to check what voltage range they're actually outputting either.

Edit: Although Hikvision don't list an accessory microphone for this camera, their own active microphone DS-2FP2020 https://video.xortec.de/media/pdf/130290217.pdf is specced at the same 2.5Vp-p at the same load of 600 Ohms.

I ran a separate power supply to the mic never had a problem since
This is a 12v ten amp to each mic seven out the front

Thanks for the reply, are you using the same camera? I'm not using POE splitters to run the mic, I'm running 12V directly to the mic from a solar system with an 100 A/h battery (voltage would vary from low 12 to low 14V.) I tried directly plugging a 12V 1000mAh plug pack straight into the mic today with no change. The camera is powered separately via POE from the NVR.

The camera supplier on AliExpress seems to be losing interest in helping. The camera is ~3mths old but I've only installed a microphone last week. I did find info via Google of other people having the same trouble on a different model Hik and the firmware was at fault. I'm now running the latest but the problem hasn't improved.
