Here is a setup guide from Nelly's that is the exact same setup for the Hikvision and RCA iPhone apps. I assume the same as Laview, LTS and Clare too.

We wanted a doorbell cam, but didn't like that you can't record locally. There was nothing else available. We picked up the Ring Pro for $190 and pay $30 a year for storage. Recordings are available for 60 days, but you can download any you want. Works pretty decent, takes about 15 seconds to answer someone after they push the button, but it starts recording before they ever get to the button. You do need a strong wifi.

Which Model do you have? This doorbell is giving me a huge headache in the way that it's set up. It wants to be the center of the connections so it has an AC and VAC and then the doorbell chime is supposed to connect to the vac and C1. but when I try to do this, it doesn't really work with a resistor or a diode. Should I just get new doorchimes? Don't really feel like spending more money on this.

Don't recall the model, picked it up from HD or Lowes several years ago.
IIRC was about $30. Easy install though, one wire from transformer and one from button, or Ring now.

Looks like a Heath Zenith from what I can find online.

Haha. The short answer is no it does not record full time to SD. At least not for me. It is “recording” full time. So when a motion alert goes off it starts the recording about 5 seconds before the event. I have an NVR that is also recording. So if I need full record I’ll check that.

Yes, if you have an nvr and the doorbell is connected to it then the nvr can record continuously if setup that way.

Clare Controls just issued a firmware update (V2.0.0 build 171218), not sure what changes were made, but recently I was have an issue getting the live feed on the phone, but live view looked fine if someone hit the doorbell and I pick up. Hopefully it fixes this issue. Didn't help with Blue Iris and skipping every 1 to 3 seconds when recording, maybe I have a lemon, since others have no problems with their brand and BL.

Update: Looking around using the cam browser app, they reduced the 1920x1080 main stream to a fixed 12 fps.

Update2: Per lagvoid's comment, using rtp/udp (and port 8000) on BL, instead of rtsp makes the recording much better (Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR).

Can anyone speak to the speed of the alerts from this camera? When motion detection is triggered or when someone presses the ringer button, how long does it take to get the alert and connect to video (intercom)?
Did anyone test this out when in house (on Wi-fi) and when out of the house (cellphone hikvision app on cellular)?

It's delayed by about 10-15 seconds when I'm home on Wifi. On cellular, it obviously depends, but add at least 5 seconds to that.

I'm using it mostly for the camera, not so much for answering the door.

However, I did test today by reaching out and ringing the doorbell. When connected on local wifi (android phone), you get a notification within a second of ringing the phone and then pressing the answer button a second or three more before talking. However, with wifi turned off and data turned on (3G, two bars) it takes about 2-3 seconds notification and any where from 3-10 seconds to answer after hitting the answer button. A few times, it took too long to spin up for me to start talking.

I noticed too that the speaker on the cam was a bit distorted a few times too. When I first got it, the firmware was buggy but the "wakie-talkie" ability seemed to work better Clare has had a couple updates, fixing a few other issues (IR going out after ringing door bell - fixed in first update). not sure why it's varying that much when trying to connect to talk via cellular only...could be a cellular issue in my area.

NVR = Network Video Recorder. Id' say get a PC, used i5 or i7 with Quick Sync and onboard video, and run Blue Iris.

For those to go this to work with DIGITAL chimes, can you provide the model number? I spoke to Nelly's support and they said it's not meant to work with Digital chimes. Before I return it, I want to see if other's had success with digital chimes vs mechanical ones. Also, did you use a resistor or diode? Mine came with a resistor but I don't think that's supposed to do anything other than lower the voltage to the doorbell. In the instruction manual, it's meant to be only used if there's no chime attached to it.

Just a suggestion for those with digital chimes...use a relay off the door button to trigger the chime. That should provide the current and inductive load that the camera is expecting to see. No, I have not done this myself, but it might be a simple dodge to "beat the system".

Wondering how would this work since the doorbell is always on. Not sure what type of power changes happens when the doorbell button is pushed in order to activate the door chime.

Just substitute the relay contacts for the button contacts to the doorbell. The relay coil becomes the doorbell to the camera. All that's happening, from the doorbell side of things, is substituting relay contacts for the button contacts. It would need to be wired as if it was the push button. This also isolates the doorbell, electrically, from the camera. It's a little "old school" in todays world of solid state, but I suspect it would work. Maybe Nelly can chime in here.

does this camera/doorbell have back light compensation/highlight compensation/Wide Dynamic Range? My current front door cam doesn't support these and the Snow on the ground lately made visitors face way too dark
