I got them from Andy. I got the mics from Amazon. I don't use POE on these. I ran a separate wire to power the mic and camera. The mic came with a splitter, so I only had to run 1 power cable. I don't use Blue Iris.
I assume that these are relativity low cost MICs, with the plastic one being the lowest cost? Is anyone using them, with an opinion?
don't bet on it. the high fidelity ones are pretty expensive from the only seller on Ali (not @EMPIRETECANDY ).
you have to power it somehow, this can get a little messy. Audio in on the camera should work just fine in BlueIris.
Well I use POE for everything to avoid having to add new outlets everywhere my cameras are located... If I have to have 110v power i guess I will have to continue going without sound.
You can use a PoE splitter to power the camera and mic via 12V. Just be careful, there are lots of really crappy PoE splitters that can't output anywhere near what they're rated for. You also need a fairly large enclosure of some kind to put it.

Powering outdoor cameras from outdoor 120v outlets would be one of the dumbest things you could do. If you don't power them by PoE, you would be running another cable to the camera to provide power at a lower voltage eg. 12vdc or 24vac depending on the camera.Come to think of it I don't even know if my old POE switch will power this camera or if it needs one with a newer spec. hmmm. right so i don't understand what I would need to power the microphone. 12v power is not available next to the camera and there's no outlets in the area. Hence the decision to go POE in the first place?
Power the camera via PoE. The best option for powering a microphone is probably to run a second Cat 5e/6 cable to the camera location. You could use this second cable with a PoE splitter or just go the simple route and run 12v on this cable instead of ethernet/poe.
Thanks, I only have a 4 channel poe switch, but it sounds like I could get a powerstrip for the outlet I installed, and a POE injector and make another cable.
