There aren't too many original posts dedicated to this specific camera, but there are many posts related to variants of this camera with similar capabilities (such as the SD49225T-HN). As such, insight is welcome from anyone wishing to share their experience/tips/tricks--with the understanding that differences in firmware may be a challenge, but may also be insightful. As many posters on this forum can attest, the camera has its pros and cons, as do most cameras. Without detailed documentation of this camera's features and associated function, one is required to experiment. Many of us can find answers to specific questions by searching this forum, but there doesn't seem to be a central location where many questions are addressed.

I have installed this camera on a POE+ switch and configured it on my network using a laptop running Blue Iris. It's taken me a week to become familiar with most settings, but still working on ideal IVS settings for optimum performance.

Firmware:

In no particular order, questions that I can't find answers to, features needing clarification, "is this working right?" and general comments are below:

1) This camera has an MicroSD Card slot and I installed a Samsung Evo Plus 128GB card and formatted it. Based upon what I've read here and the documentation that came with the camera, the slot was supposed to be difficult to get to...it's not, it's right behind the small panel. I've selected "overwrite" when the card becomes full but that doesn't seem to be working. The card fills up to capacity and then video files no longer become accessible and requires formatting to start recording to the card again. Has anyone seen this or is there a setting I'm missing? Recommendations?

2) AF Tracking. Am I wrong in assuming that if you use IVS autotracking that this setting should be on? The default is off. Anyone know how the camera reacts differently to each setting? Regarding "Lens Init," I'm guessing if you make a change in this box, you should reinitialize the lens with this button?:

3) Blue Iris questions: Does anyone use a Dahua camera for the make and model slots in this Blue Iris Network Config window? If so, which camera?

Likewise, in the PTZ/Control window of Blue iris, which camera are you using for Network IP? I use the Dahua/Q-See RTSP and have all the PTZ functions in Blue Iris.

4) With regard to autotracking (gimmick to some), the target filters and firmware seem to dictate how far the camera zooms into the target when tracking. Often times the zoom is not enough. Recommendations? Or is this mostly a firmware limitation? I've read posts where some firmware versions had a flaw with zoom. See my firmware version above.

5) I think it's irrelevant but would like confirmation: when an intrusion box is drawn and "Enter" or "Enter&Exit" is selected, an arrow is visible on the box. Depending on where you start drawing the box, the arrow can be on various sides of the box. Does this matter for proper detection?

6) A nice feature is the PTZ Limit. It constrains the camera to limits you set for the highest and lowest tilt positions. Is there a similar setting to set pan limits? My camera hangs from a wall and I have no need to see behind the camera. Sometimes the camera tracks an object until it disappears from view at the side of the house but the camera continues to try and track behind the camera. I don't tour the camera so it'll take several seconds for the alarm track to end before returning to the home position which is preset 1 in my case.

7) If anyone uses IPCAMVIEWER, I'd love to know which camera you selected in order to see the video stream in IPCAMVIEWER. I tried matching various camera, ports, channels, etc., in order to view the stream, but no success thus far.

8) I should have put this question at the top because it's important to me. I likely don't have the camera mounted in an optimal location so I've introduced obstructions in the FOV. One such obstruction is the column you see in this picture:

As you might guess, the camera will often lock on to this while tracking. The camera also locks onto the tree there in the middle of the yard. I don't have much hope for resolution, but I'll ask anyway, has anyone found a setting or workaround to avoid locking onto a stationary object when it should be tracking a moving object?

9) Maybe I haven't wrapped my head around some of the alarm relay posts in the forums here, so I'll ask again. Assuming I have or will have the proper ONVIF camera selected in Blue Iris (see question 3 above) and used the find/inspect method to select it. In the absence of external hardware (e.g. PIR) will the camera send an alarm to Blue Iris and further, will Blue Iris respond to it using only the camera's IVS or motion detection settings if I have "Camera's digital input or motion" selected in Blue Iris?

I hope some of this is useful to others and also hope I can help those needing assistance (to the extent of my ability). Thank you for any help you can provide to the above questions.
