What are your IVS best practices?

Hi everyone,
I wanted to start a thread where we discuss ways to configure IVS for highest reliability.

Right now I have issues of many false alarms triggered by:
- Fog at night
- Rain
- Rapidly changing cloud cover
- Reflections from car lights
- Wind blowing in trees, bushes.
- Porch light turns on/off

I think some of these may not be possible to eliminate (fog for example), but i'm wondering how I can do my best to not catch false alarms and find only what I am interested - humans or animals moving about.

Some ideas I have:
* For intrusion box, only create IVS event for crossing boundary instead of appear. So, this should eliminate events where a shadow appears inside of the alert box.
* Go back and review IVS events and see if there is a theme to where false alarm triggers, then revise my intrusion box accordingly.
* One method I've seen on this board: use a bunch of chained tripwires. This seems like it might eliminate shadow appearance false alarms. Think so? Anybody have experience here?

I included my boundaries and IVS settings. Anybody see anything I could fix right off the bat?

I only use trip line and the box sized a little bigger than a squirrel on mine.

I get almost zero false alarm with this set up unless my truck is parked in my driveway then a car passing my house will reflect off my truck's body making it look like someone is crossing the trip line.

Do you use a single trip line? Any zig/zag multi line setup ?

Zig-zags are fine, but make them smaller. And put them where people, animals walk, steps, walkway, driveway. Not the side of the house or bushes where wind will trip them. Same with intrusion, smaller boxes only on the concrete.

True, I had a couple Bosch tri-tech up that worked great. But I got ivs working well enough now that I took them down.Less stuff to mess with.

can you suggest any good ones @tangent and the other question, how do you include them in your camera network. I started with z-wave which may be an idea or are there other good alternatives. Thanks

This is where the new dahua will be mounted replacing old ptz. I will have it parked on this preset waiting for motion to track through ivs.. i want to catch any movement except that pine tree. Should i just draw one big zig zag trip wire.. mainly just cars coming into my area and anyone walking down my driveway.. thanks

yes just draw it the way I did on my driveway. any time a line is broken "crossed" it will trigger an alert but if you got squirrel etc running around then it will break the line unless you draw a box little bigger than a squirrel so it won't set off the alert on anything smaller than a box you drew.

Sorry just saw this.. ok.. i want it to catch all movement so after i make the zig zag line..on the settings on the left of ivs. do i make the large box full screen and the smaller box as small as possible?

if a car passing your driveway create a shadow going across your lawn, it can break the line and trigger an alert. When my van is parked in driveway and a car pass by on the street, the car is reflecting off the side of my van windows making it look like it pulling into my driveway and triggers our alert but only happens like 2 or 3 times a day so we are not bothered by it since if there is actually someone walking around on our driveway then it will keep triggering alert sending to our phone then we know for sure there a human on our driveway and pull up the video to check.

I would make the smaller box a tad bigger than an animal if you have any that run around in your yard like a cat or squirrel etc. With the default box a bird could trigger the iVS so make it a bit bigger than a bird for sure if your area got lots of birds around.
