Im trying to get it to auto track any time it trips.. will it still auto track without intrusion too?

All my camera are fixed so someone with a PTZ need to chime in on this one.

Depends on what you want to spend and what you want to cover. The DSC LC-171 is good for covering a fairly large area, the Bosch tri-tech outdoor is also good. Request to exit style detectors can work well for detecting motion close to your house, I've used the RCR-REX @nayr uses the Optex OP-08.

If you want a cheap motion detector, there's a dual pir model you can get on ebay that's made by paradox (knockoffs/unbranded versions of the same thing may also be there). Search outdoor dual pir. There are lots of ways you can use use motion detectors, but it depends on how you're recording. You can hook them to cameras with alarm i/o, i/o on an nvr, to a normal alarm system, to an automation system, or to an i/o device like sealevel that works with blue iris.

I am working on my review of that camera, i've just been busier than I was expecting.

Thank you @tangent . Reading good comments on those (old school) sensors. I've started a little with home automation and have read also good comments on the fibaro z-wave sensors should be fairly simple to have ' em fit into my network.

Looking forward to your future review(s).

I'm not aware of any zwave motion sensors that are really designed to be used outside. Optex makes some battery powered detectors that you add your own alarm sensor to which would also work with zwave. People here have used indoor ones outside with some success, but probably more false alerts than an outdoor sensor. Somebody does make a zwave vehicle probe or sorts iirc and I know there's one can work wirelessly with a couple alarm system brands. Driveway | Resolution Products

The tripwire alone worked for auto tracking.. im still testing inside because of the weather. Im still getting a little lag when the auto tracking kicks on.. i believe its my old cheap router .. i did buy the gigabit switch.. during times of no tracking video is awesome. Im going to get a new router soon in hopes that it fixes any lag issues..

Run all cam associated network items through the gig switch, then one cable from router to gig switch.

Ok so I hope I didn't miss it as I think I've read the whole thread now, but why zig zag? How is that more effective than a straight line?
