Hello,

I live in Koh Samui, Thailand. We have some beautiful beaches here, and I would love to install a camera on one of them.

However, I'm very obsessed with image quality. Can anyone please recommend a camera with the most beautiful picture? (close to DSLR quality). (night vision isn't needed).

I played with GoPro Hero 6 (installed in a weatherproof box). The image is good, however Hero 6 turns itself off quite randomly and it's firmware sucks (can't restart automatically if turned off).

So basically, I'm looking for something like this:

If you put quality above night vision then look towards high pixel count cameras such as 10-12mp cameras. More pixels doesn't guarantee the best picture per se. But high pixel count sensors are generally sharper.

Also, beware poor optics. The sensor can only record what the the lens feeds to it.

Another thing to consider is compared to a GoPro or similar, a CCTV camera won't have the data rate as most encode at 10mbs or less compared to over 50mbs on the GoPro 6. That said, you won't stream 50mbs, and if you could afford the connection, it's likely very few people would have the connection to view it. Any streamed video will have some quality compromises.

I'm not sure how much benefit there is to going much above 4k (8mp), I think that's currently the sweet spot for a better daytime image.
