Hey guys, So I've been installing cctv for a couple of years now with a licensed company. Pretty simple stuff, we buy from our distributor and it's just a solid working system. Appear to be rebranded hik/dahua but who's arent... We regularly install 4k cameras and nvr's now. Saying that because I'm familiar with cctv.

Well, Obviously BI and a tower is more custom. I've been running 7 Hikvision 3MP bullets on a I5 SFF computer for a few years now with BlueIris4 on my own home, cams are like 5+ years old probably. It seems to max out the i5 when things get busy around the house on motion detection. Even with stuff set at 10 fps. It's older bullets running h.264 so I know the newer h.265 will be better of course. Our newer stuff is even h.265+ and is awesome.

So I'm working with my dad, and he's wanting to do a good size system at his house. 16 4MP IP Cameras. 2 4MP Dahua Auto tracking PTZ's (Not sure if I can cover everything with 16 fixed + 2ptx or 14 fixed and 2 ptz)

So obviously we're talking about a decent system here....
I'd be buying an I7 used tower with windows 7 pro on it probably because of the cost we can buy them at. Installing at least a 6TB WD Purple (Maybe a 2nd one down the road)

I'm trying to determine what kind of chokes I'll have an if an I7 will run these at 10fps up to 15fps
Not looking for silky video here.

I could do equipment cost for under 2k (NO PTZ) through our distributor but that's 5MP over coax (Yes, we do that now)
Our IP stuff costs US twice as much... So he just can't afford it. (Our stuff is great quality... But it's not as custom, they don't offer ALL of Hiks/Dahuas cameras in all their focal lengths)

So I'm looking at the ipc-HDW4433C-A 4MP Turrets almost through out. A few probably need to be vandal domes at the front gate and doors. But the rest I figure can be turrets... half of them will be 20ft up. More just overall watching, not looking for forensic detail. (PTZ hopefully take care of that)

Auto tracking PTZ Dahua 4MP SD59430u-hni Ideally two, but probably just one to start out with.

Just wanting to make sure I don't buy a tower and it can't handle the cameras.

Our cameras run 5MP at 20fps. But the DVR only records 5MP at 12fps on all 16 chan (16ch dvr + 2IP)

so instead I'm considering going custom... Dahuas on Blue Iris 4 and I'm looking at the Dahua turrets that are 4mp. I see they have 6MP but I don't think that's really needed. I guess the extra 2MP would be nice for the $10 cost....

Big factor here is determining what I can run on an I7 used system like this one.
I7 2600
Dell OptiPlex 990 Intel Core i7 QuadCore (Windows 7 Professional)

I5 options
Dell Optiplex 990 PC, 8gb RAM, Office 2016, i5-3.10, Win 10, Mint!

Everything is wrong here.
1) dont screw your dad by installingn 4mp china region cameras...look at the dahua starlight turrets 100 for fixed 170 for varifocal...the extra 2mp will make nightvision worse...the starlight are exceptional in low light..
2) those systems are overpriced...you want at LEAST 3rd gen (particularly if you install 3mp+ cameras as the quicksync in the second gen is limited to 1080p)....
See the wiki on top...

I'll read it, sorry I missed that. I thought those were the starlights, obviously doesn't look like it now.
Was hoping to save some on the turrets and sport him the auto tracking ptz. Probably not gonna happen I guess.

Read the wiki.

I may have linked the wrong camera.. These say starlight.
Dahua IPC HDW4433C A 4MP Starlight Camera Built in MIC IR 50m network IP Camera Support POE replace IPC HDW4431C A cctv camera-in Surveillance Cameras from Security & Protection on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

Also, there isn't any light. He lives on 6 acres, neighbors are a couple miles away. There won't be any need for low light performance. It's dark country woods/farm land type area. lol

But I know the starlights have a better sensor so it's still a plus, and the h.265 is great.

I'm actually running one of these on my system. Quality day/night seems good.

Read the wiki.

I forgot to mention the star lights aren't important for my dad from a low light performance perspective. Of course, having the better sensor is nice and a plus, but there isn't light there.
He lives on 6 acres and the closest neighbors are a couple of miles away. So i'm not as worried about the low light performance when the IR
will be used 100% of the time at night.

Those aren't starlight, and they are still china regions cams.
The starlights are still important with the IR.
You want to know who did it, not just what happened.

Gas stations and other indoor commercial clients that have 24hr led lighting benefit from the 4k because they never switch to IR... But thank you for the concern.

I'll look over the links, which I've read the first two before. Thanks!
I agree 100% but as my dad told me " I don't care about the details, I just need to know if someones coming, at the door and trying to get in."
He lives with no neighbors for miles. There will never be a neighbor looking for their dog...

There's a budget. And having a camera there is better than not because I placed a better night ir camera somewhere else. 9 Doors, an extreme amount of angles, detached shop, front and back gate we're trenching lines to. For the price we just can't put the better cams at every single spot we need right now. I agree the $170 starlights I was looking at on here are no doubt better. But It just isn't possible under his budget and requirements.

Having a $60 cam and actually seeing something is better than not having one because I put $100 cams everywhere else. He can spend a couple hundred per cams a couple yrs down the road, and understand this is somewhat wasteful but has a need, and that need is certain number of cams, for a certain price. I can't do anything about that.

Edit: The Cameras I can install from my distributor are 100% starlights and ffi, so we can go that route for his budget but they don't support 3rd party cameras so doing so means I'll be forced to use their dvr as well.
Which is fine, Im just wanting to look at this option.

Looney and fenderman, I sincerely wasn't trying to come off as a dick and if that's how I did, I really am sorry about that.

Also, Still going through that pdf link, it's great thank you.

Just turning no stone unturned exploring my options on how to maximize my dads budget of about 2k with all the needs he has which when it comes down to it I understand the cameras at night could just become identify and not detail. In his situation it may be the best option. When you see his surroundings you may feel the same, maybe not.

When buying from naryl? Is his Ali Express store the best place?
I'd certainly like to buy his starlights before making any final decisions of course.
I'll talk to my dad, It doesn't sound like he can do $100 for every single cam but I'll certainly talk to him about it. Obviously the better cameras cost more.
My distributor offers Starvis (Starlight) chip IP cams and analogs in many various MP's but they just cost more... Because their good...
We're looking at trying to save on some cameras so he can pick up that tracking ptz and put a few less cameras on the back of the house looking into the yard.
The PTZ I linked, is there a better option on the budget of $600ish for a auto tracking ptz? I watched some videos and it looked great. It has to have IR since the property is so large unfortunately.
His property is just crazy layed out. They bought it on a foreclosure for 280k. Sat empty for years and took a lot of getting it back to shape. But he can't possibly light it up enough
all the way around it.
Here's the property to give a sense of literally no neighbors lol... Fenced in with gates. If someones there, it's not by accident.

I think my dad would be well off investing in good lighting on PIR motions where possible of course.. He's literally just in the middle of no where. But I don't know how much he could do.

I was thinking of having some alarm inputs on PIR's or property Beams so it could look in the direction and the auto tracking would pick up.

Appreciate it.

Edit: This has become a full on system build thread and not the calculating bandwidth like I had intended... If I need to stick to topic, and then move to another subforum of the overall build I understand.
