Hey all,

I havent been around for a bit, Has the problem with the plugin for viewing Hikvision in Firefox been fixed yet? I was using a ESR version but had to upgrade for other reasons. Just wondering if anything has been fixed yet?

Thanks

I just use IE for the cams and NVR only. Then use Firefox or chrome for web browsing. And just so you know, safari also works really good

Pale Moon 32 bit browser works OK, but it has a problem with the higher data rates demanded by 4MP cameras, I've discovered.

I swapped out a couple of 2MP cameras for 4MP ones, and suddenly Pale Moon (it's plugin, actually) started crashing regularly, even with what I believe is the most current version of the WebComponents.EXE plugin, version 3.0.6.10, which I installed just a few days ago.

I could not get the current versions of FireFox, or Chrome, or IE 11 to show me images - they all demanded a plugin which, it seems doesn't exist. None of the published workarounds worked for me.

The iVMS-4200 Client under Windows 10 works very nicely as well, including the ability to review playback from the NVR.

Can you be more specific as to how you have the VLC plugin configured in Firefox? Thanks.

You should be prompted to install the plugin when attempting to login to the camera. See if you already have an outdated plugin already. Maybe you need to delete it, and then you will get the prompt...???

That's what the documentation says, but the only browser that prompted me was Explorer 11, and I clicked and it said the plugin was downloaded and installed. Then when I restarted Explorer and tried again, it just kept insisting I needed to download the plugin. After 3 or 4 tries, I gave up.

On Firefox and Chrome, it just says "Plugin Not Found" and doesn't show an image from the cameras. There was never a prompt to download a plugin.

Pale Moon 32 bit worked OK, but seems to choke on the stream from my 4MP camera - the plugin crashes, and Pale Moon closes.

I believe in IE, I had to go to the security settings in internet options, and add the IP address of the cam or NVR to the “safe list”. Try doing that and see if it stops prompting you to install the plugin

I've never had Pale Moon crash using 4MP or even 8MP cameras. That's strange.
To be technical about it, Pale Moon itself did not crash. The screen prompt said the plugin had crashed and Pale Moon would now close. Which it did.

This happened after I added a third camera, which was 4MP. The previous two had been 2MP. When I removed the 4MP and put in another 2MP, the crashes stopped, so I had to surmise it was having a problem with a 4MP device.

System is LaView 8 channel NVR with several cameras.

Did that. Could not get it to work.

But...I just tried it again, and NOW it's working in IE 11. No explanation, changed nothing, it just works. Sheesh.

Ah, so maybe it is trying to stream multiple cameras all at once and could be running into some kind of memory limit.

Yeah, tough luck for anyone using android, can't wait for for the smartazz staff member to tell us we should be using windows.
Most cameras have never had support for viewing directly using a web browser on android or ios. Over the course of the next year or two, I'd expect to see more cameras that work without plugins and use hls or dash. There are apps that work on ios and android.

Nobody's trying to push windows as a solution, but blue iris can restream in formats that should work in mobile browsers. Your comment is a bit off base, I can't hep think you might be trolling. I suppose a TBI from all the potholes in csprings is possible too. This thread is about people having problems getting their cameras to work using windows...

That WAS under Windows. Win 10 Pro, to be precise. I've actually has no problems with Android based apps to view the cameras.

I am using VLC Web Plugin 2.2.4.0 with Firefox 52.0.2 (32-bit) ESR

When I goto a camera page there is a place I can switch to what pluggin I want to use to view the video. Depending on the firmware version it is at the bottom left. Or the top left. See the picture

Thanks. I think it works because you're using Firefox 52.0.2 (32-bit) ESR. I can't get it to work with the current version. However, as I mentioned above, for some reason I don't understand it just started working in IE 11 for me.

Found these directions on how to make Firefox work with webcomponents and Hikvision. It still uses Firefox 52.0 ESR. But a straight forward directions.
