OK, I just got the DS-KB6003-WIP
I'm on firmware V1.4.62 build 171218.

My issues are more about the settings from web interface and capabilities...
Is it normal I can't change the FPS?
It seems to be stuck at 12... no other choice... I want 30FPS at 1080...
Is this cam limited to 12 FPS for real?
***I downgraded cam to a previous firmware because I have seen in this forum it was letting us choose 22fps and yes it works but the stream didn't seem stable got I went back to latest firmware.

If this cam isn't powerful enough to have 30FPS, this is garbage for me...
I should have realized that not showing the FPS options in product specs on their site was a hint that Hikvision could not guaranty a stable normal camera FPS stream...
Just took this for granted as I would never have imagined that this could be a limit on a Hik cam in this price range...

I was interested in the Nest Hello originally but because it relies 100% on the Nest cloud, I figured there will be delays, etc... So when I saw this Hik doorbell, I figured I would get the Hikvision camera standard I know and love... I was wrong. With the Nest Hello, at least, the stream is better and cam is responsive, the hardware itself seems just better...
Might have to revisit this route...

I have other issues but this one is the deal breaker for me so far...

There is no reason for 30fps on a doorbell camera...you are not filming a Hollywood movie....

These people who have to have 30fps in all there cameras really have no clue what they are talking about.
I'm not sure what you mean by that but I would be one of those people lol

I'm no expert but as an end user I can tell you when I playback my videos from my hik cams or live view, 30 FPS makes a big difference to me...
I don't use them in a commercial store or something like that (and I understand all the reasons behind a lower FPS for a security camera system), I use them at home for security BUT also to grab memories (my doorbell shows me the backyard where my son play, my dog doing stupid stuff, etc..). Other cams point to street and the car passing are smooth on stream at 30FPS...
But even if I would have a business, I would set the cams to 30FPS anyway so...

As for the price, I agree that if I would have paid 100$, my expectations wouldn't be the same... But, for me (Canada, ordering on Newegg.ca or AliExpress) this cam cost as much as DS-2CD2185FWD-IS and I think we can agree that it's not the same range of quality.

So basically, besides firmware issues and missing features that I presume will be fixed in the future, it looks like this cam isn't powerful enough, period (for me and my needs).
Just changing a setting and clicking "save" has a much bigger delay than any other cam (some cost me way less)...

I'm still keeping it though, we never know...

Sure you can see a slight difference. But for what the camera is designed to accomplish, 12fps is absolutely fine.
Check out,

You overpaid, I'm sure there are sales in Canada and had you looked you could have found better deal. Still yet, the Nest version still cost more than what you paid and you'd probably be better off, it also has a much better camera on it. Seriously, if you paid as much as a DS-2CD2185FWD-IS, why didn't you buy that instead??? You had to know it was a better camera.

I doubt the Wifi on this camera, much less the cpu can handle 30fps or ever will be able to. This is a crap camera for catching home videos, many better options, thus 30fps is silly. This is a good camera for seeing and hearing who is at your door and nothing more. I still do and always will maintain that 30fps in 90% of the situations is a huge waste for a security camera. And to come on here and whine about how your cheap doorbell cam that you didn't research and way overpaid for can't do as good as a overpriced, monthly fee, proprietary cloud bell with better hardware is ridiculous.
ok not sure why you're getting rude here... I don't feel I come here to whine, I provided information in the past here for other cams, etc.. just giving my opinion, anyway...
- I did research but like I said, I took for granted the FPS, and focused more on my existing wiring and transformer (since this was what was mostly mentioned here and other forums). That is on me.
- Why didn't I take a DS-2CD2185FWD-IS? Pretty obvious I think; doorbell ring notification, easy location for a cam without the need to have a CAT6 poe cable,etc... I already have a dome mini there but liked the integration of the doorbell of my house.
- I just thought this was the price to have this based on all the prices for this cam on Newegg and aliExpress, etc... (Honestly, when I'm excited, I don't wait for a deal) but if talking about regular price range, yes, same price range as others like DS-2CD2185FWD-IS. So this hinted me the MSRP was in the same range... The thing is that if the price to have a stronger doorbell cam would be 100$, I would pay it but being in the same range, I figured Hikvision valued it around the same... There are deals on the other cams as well, When I compare price ranges and values, I look at the regular prices.
- Again, something else I took for granted, the wifi, I have Cube Hik cams and one of them is on Wifi; super solid Wifi and far enough from AP. Thanks for the hint though, that makes me wanna try testing an access point way closer in case there is a difference (I have this weird issue where the sub stream is super unstable compared to main stream, the Wifi might be the issue, i'll see)

***BTW, I understand your point based on your video (and I have the same conclusions for some of my cams outside) but those streams are far away, doorbell cam is closer and it makes a much bigger difference when the person takes almost the entire screen. It really depends on the camera purpose and placement (as mentioned in the video).

If I was giving the impression I was whining, that wasn't my intention, I appreciate the information you provide, thanks

There are pros though like the fisheye lens, 180 view is awesome. maybe that would be one reason of the price range, from what I saw fisheye cams are more expensive.

I'll try to post videos and pictures of it later.

keep an eye on the RCA doorbells on ebay, I just picked one up for experimentation for $68 shipped. Also about 7 posts back there was a newegg deal for LaView Doorbell that was right at $100 shipped with a $10 newegg gift card, although stock fluctuates.
i saw one on the newegg. Is LaView Doorbell firmware customized or using same ones as Hikvision?

Anyone with this camera has issues with the sub stream specifically?
When I live view the sub stream (IE, Hik-Connect app, IVMS4200 etc.. using LAN IP or Hik-Connect), it streams at less than 1 FPS with some connection issues...
Of course, I could look into the Wifi connection but the main stream is fine (and way higher bandwidth) so I'm a little confused...

I tried playing with the substream bandwidth but does change anything (cannot change the framerate from 12 so nothing else to try adjusting...
Any advise? Thanks

For those in Canada I can recommend seller pchomeestore168 on ebay, he's located in China, but free shipping to Calgary was only 10 days and I was able to negotiate lower price too. I did alot of search and this was the lowest price I could find. Also, worth mentioning that this does not appear to be grey market unit that he's selling. At least serial number doesn't have CH in it.

You probably used the "Make offer" button. So how much did he accept? Also, what shipping company they used and if you had to pay any duty/tax at delivery.

Yes, used "Make offer" and negotiated that way back and forth. He used EMS via China post and I didn't have to pay duty or tax at delivery, but of course that can be charged later via invoice of sorts so this is not definitive.
Out of respect for seller, I should not say how much I paid, I will only say it was not full price.

Thinking of buying this model, but don't have an NVR or any other camera, yet. Is it still worth it or will I be missing some significant benefits and should just budget for a basic NVR setup, too?

It seems the only one (that seems to indicate they are) customizing firmware is Nelly’s, if memory serves. I have been following the threads since the beginning and have a couple of summary pages on these HikVision clone doorbell cams in the Cliff Notes.

Update: I reset to factory settings and the sub stream works perfectly now (I changed firmwares before, might be related I guess)
By default the sub stream is 704x80 12fps constant bitrate of 1024Kbps (bitrate seems so high for sub stream, all my other cams have much lower bitrate for sub stream)
I'm scared touching those again and screw up the sub stream again...

My chime worked the first day I installed my LaView version but not anymore. Also, my phone doesn't ring anymore when the button is pressed, it just pops up a notification saying call failed. Wtf...

Are you still able to view live on your phone?

Try logging on to your doorbell with a web browser and reboot the doorbell. I can't remember where the reboot button option is located, most likely under System, Maintenance or something.

Reboot button should be under System -> Maintenance -> Configuration -> Upgrade & Maintenance -> Reboot

Yeah the app still works and I can view the feed. Blue Iris is also recording the feed. When I get home from work I'm going to remove it from blue iris and see if that works for whatever reason.

Has anyone else been having an issue when connecting it to a DVR via ONVIF, the motion detection and app notifications no longer work? Going through the doorbell interface shows them turned off. Turning it back on works for about 24hr but then it turns back off again.

I have no problem getting notifications while recording in Blue Iris but my chime stopped working and my phone no longer rings when the button is pressed.
