I hope you don't mean that you intend to install behind a window, the results will be disappointing.
I can only try and see how it works out. It is an apartment complex and installing outside is not an option. However, the lighting is very good (very bright LED flood lights), so fingers crossed that it will work out with IR disabled.

Used to have a similar set up with a Hikvision 2032. We were on the second floor overlooking the parking lot of an old building and I installed it on side of the window frame pointing out with IR off and it did the job for peace of mind. I did install a 25mm lens in there to get a nice closeup of the car and near surroundings but it worked out great.

You'll still have heavy reflections from any light behind the window/camera. Don't forget the screen being in front is also going to provide a place for light from behind to show up plus the mesh of the screen will show in the video as well. I've painted a number of cameras, mostly bullets, with no problem but be sure to mask the lens, IR LEDs and mic hole. If it's inside just use a white window shade to hide it rather than fool with panting it.

Got my ZE today. Nice Andy!

One question...how do you remove the “ball” from the “socket”? Lol.

Just out of curiosity, how did you make it all black? What did you use, as I can see that it's still factory white along some of the edges. Thanks.
Between the wall mount and the bracket of the cam is the silicone ring, which I didn’t paint of course.
And yes, you are right, I didn’t paint one part from it’s top because I thought you won’t see it when the top is on it. With flashlight you see it and next time I would paint it better, but was to lazy to dismount and paint twice
The inside with no extra paint is only visible with flashlight. You even don’t see it in daylight.
And the scratches are from mounting to early while the paint wasn’t fully hardened. Did it in winter and took longer to harden then expected

I logged in to my camera this afternoon with Pale Moon, but I don't have image anymore. Everything is still working, but no live view, playback anymore. It's just a black box.
Did a recend Pale Moon update cause this?

On Chrome it's still working but the image is askew.

Sometimes closing all Pale Male moon processes in Task Manager and relaunching the app works, same with reinstalling the browser. You can also try Basilisk (thanks to @tangent )

Before you try too many things, try simply rebooting your computer. You could also try rebooting the camera.

Well, what do you know. I removed Pale Moon but when I tried to reinstall it, the installer kept crashing.
Restarted the laptop, installing Pale Moon went ok and the live view is working fine again.

Sometimes problems are solved easily.

Every time I need to uninstall and do a fresh reinstall, I'll do a registry cleanup through CCleaner before the reinstall,
Or otherwise, sometimes the installer itself is corrupt due to a corrupt / broken download, lol

I don't think I've resorted to removing and re-installing a Firefox variant to fix a problem in over 10 years. I can fix most Firefox problems from the command line or a text/sqllite editor faster than I can reinstall. Then again, I've been using it since Phoenix 0.1 and know my way around the source code. I've certainly never needed a registry cleaner.

So this new firmware should switch between day and night profile so I should have to change the sunrise/sunset times every once in a while?
If yes; to bad people seem to have problems with it, because switching between day and night would be very welcome.

New firmware for IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea NTSC and PAL 20180330
yes, it will fixes up this bug. I will test this on the IPC-HDW5231R-Z to check if can be updated or not.

That's great, very welcome feature.

But I'm hesitant on trying the new firmware, reading the comments in that topic about issues with the new firmware.
Anyone here updated the ZE model with that firmware? Is it working ok?

@looney2ns I Sent him days ago, seems all ok. I will test on some HDW5231R-Z, have to be very sure all can be updated, then can post here.

Hello friends,

bought the cam from Andy last week - thx mate :)

But i think there is a problem with the cam :(

This is a short video of the lens issue.
Video starts with the focus set by camera's autofocus option, right side out of focus. Best is the middle, bad on both sides.
I used autofocus button on the "zoom and focus page", you can see the lens moving, after that right side is out of focus.
Used a few times - you can check - always back to out of focus on the right side :(

Contacted Andy, but no answer - maybe vacation :)

Please help me

regards

Other question please :)

How can i remove the cam from network in explorer view ?
UPnP is disabled in the cam settings, but the cam still there in network view from explorer.

For the Network View, try disabling the Bonjour feature on the camera.

Upgraded firmware to the new one, with reseted all settings - nothing changed :(

Autofocus is still not correct working
