PSA: foscam r2 and c2 need decoder compatibility mode

Blue iris with foscam r2 and c2 cameras with hardware acceleration and direct to disc doesn’t work, resulting in errors and video files not recording. After spending some time troubleshooting this issue with lots of help from Ken, we have finally figured out a temporary solution: these cameras require decoder compatibility mode on.

I have 3 R2s and and when I use compatibility mode it skips frames. When hardware acceleration is enabled but not direct to disk the moving parts of the clips smear across several frames. I also own a Foscam fi9928p which has similar issues but compatibility mode causes the stream to fail.

Yeah I'm still trying to figure it out, still no solution =(
