Dh-sd49225t-hn + no valid ip-adres/lan connection :-(

hi guys

i just want to get a second opinion or confirmation that my new shiny camera is a doa toaster

so it booted up , made noise and moved around with 2 red lights under the lens

on my pc a non working lan connection/non standard ip-adres (direct short lan cable to camera) and ofc no way to acces the device

i tried to fix it with everything that makes sense but never any change

so broken yes/no ?

Probably not. Is your pc your are using on the same IP address range as the camera?
Exactly what camera is it?

Have you tried the Dahua Config Tool or read the Wiki?

its this model Camera Dahua Dome PTZ Zoom x25 IP-2 MP - dh-sd49225t-hn

i havent tried the dahua config tool or wiki but i will try it right now

the amazon vendor already contacted me saying he will send a new one immediatly if its defect

are you using a standard network cable to connect the camera to our PC? or going via a switch/router?

You'd need a cross-over cable if linking directly to your PC's LAN port or it won't work...

yeah (i think) standard network cable but i tried several , with and without switch/router , always the weird ip-adres and gives blanc page = connection refused

im gonna try the cross-over cable thing or make one if i have 2

Hi,

“direct short lan cable to camera” that can't work. Direct connection to the pc requires a crossover Lan Cable. Better you use a switch in between. The IP address of your PC should be in the same address range. For example PC 192.168.1.1 Dahua Standard 192.168.1.108.

Starting 169? That's a 'self-administered IP address due to the lack of a DHCP server.
Don't connect the PC and camera directly - that causes all sorts of problems. But if you do - cross-over cables have not been needed for years - the network interfaces have MDIX auto crossover these days.
Just connect both to a switch as normal. Change the PC IP address if you need to, if it's not on a 192.168.1.x address range so that you can access the 192.168.1.108 default address.
The switch does not care about IP addresses, it just passes traffic.

ok , thx alot guys , i managed to get the camera working and same myself a whole lot of trouble with re-sending/packaging

the "set the ipadres manually trick" was the solution , just one final remark , this thing is very loud = normal ???

Not necessarily...I've been using a straight-through (T-568B on both ends) for years to connect PC to cam directly. Ports have been auto MDI-X for quite some time now.

Depends on what you define as loud. They certainly aren't silent. Also depends on where you have speed settings for it.

its hard for me to judge because its my first ip cam so maybe loud is just not loud

you speak of speed setting so i imagine thats the speed at which the turret moves but he makes the noise just sitting idle , sounds abit like a cpu fan on full power

It has a build in fan, that is running all the time. And at the default speed settings for the pan and tilt movement, it is quite normal that you will notice the sound. It are stepper motors, and those make a funny noise at different speed settings. That's why you can play music on a stepper motor

If they used direct drive motors or a belt driven system, it would be faster and more quiet. But that would bring up the cost of the camera quite a bit.

My camera is dead and I want to revive it. My question is, what are the connection pins for the UART port? Is additional hardware necessary to connect to the UART of this camera other than USB-TTL? Has anyone been able to establish communication through the UART port for this camera?
