Here is my setup:

My NVR is a DS-7608NI-E2/8P (4TB drive); (firmware: V3.4.92 build 170518).

I have 7 cameras all are DS-2CD2342WD-I (firmware: V5.5.0 build 170725)

- 6 of the 7 cameras are connected to the POE ports with 192.168.254.x addresses.

- The other camera is on my home network and connected manually.

I originally configured the cameras through iVMS-4200 but since I am trying to use Line Crossing and Intrusion alarms, I could not set up the Maximum and Minimum boxes! So, I changed things around by configuring the alarms on the cameras themselves and now generate the emails from the camera. The 6 cameras connected to the POE ports were originally connected as Plug-and-Play, but I changed them all to 'Manual' so that I could do the configuration on the cameras and not on the NVR.

The NVR, using iVMS-4200, now shows the Line Crossing lines and Intrusion boxes I set up on the cameras. So all looks good from that perspective.

The issue is, when using Main View, I can see all 7 cameras in the small boxes on the screen, and all are showing a 'live' view. However, when I double click on the various camera screens to bring it to a larger view, the video feed is frozen!

For some of the cameras, it changes to a 'live' view after 20-30 seconds but it stops and starts a lot! Some of the cameras, don't bring up the 'live' view at all! I have waited for more than 10 minutes and then gave up.

Interestingly, at times some of the cameras , and it appears random (!), seem to work as they should and bring up the 'live' view quickly!

For those cameras where I have continuous recording , if I switch to Instant Playback for say 1 minute, it works well!

The system metrics from iVMS-4200 (top right) show Memory at 52%; CPU at 0-5%; and Network Usage at 0%.

I am using a PC with Windows 10 (Intel Core i5-4460 CPU @3.20GHz with 8GB of RAM) which, I would think, should be sufficient!

My Video settings are as follows:

Main Stream / Sub Stream

Bitrate Type: Variable / Variable
Video Quality: Higher / Low
Frame Rate: 8fps / 8fps
H.264+: enabled / N/A
Max Bitrate: 3072Kbps / 512Kbps
Resolution : 2688 * 1520 / 640 * 360
I Frame Interval: 25 / 50

Each Camera has Dual-VCA enabled and UPnP disabled.

Any thoughts on how I can change things to get the large screen to show a 'live' view quickly?
