I just installed BI on my core 2 duo HP i had spare. Everything opens and seems to be setup ok but for the life of me it is NOT recording. I have looked and searched and changed any setting i could and it does not show clips or anything on the time line. Even when manually triggered.

Have you read the BI help file?

@looney2ns , No. I have it installed on my i5/win10 gaming machine. It works on my gaming rig but with the same settings on the core2duo/win7 machine it doesnt save anything. I guess I will take a look at the help file. This doesnt seem like a help file kind of issue to me so i didnt look.

Dahua HDW5231R-Z 2MP is the 1 camera i have now, so far so good!

Does BI take advantage of the multi cores of quad cpus?

it will easily handle that load....it will handle those 4 cams at about 10-15 percent cpu usage.

uninstall BI and delete it. Down load BI version 4.7.6.4 x64. The 4.7.6.2 version has a major bug.

Everything seems to be working for me. I wiped out the computer and installed a fresh windows 7. I added a different ip cam, Samsung SNH-V6414BMR HD Plus 1080p Wi-Fi IP Camera, and its doing its thing now.
One thing i am noticing is that its not smooth as in the seconds dont tick perfectly. I have lowered the bandwidth to 1.5 from the default 6 to see if its helps. The BI pc is on wifi (4ft away)for the moment pending delivery of my GB switch from amazon.
Even the play backs confirm its not just live video. The computer is only using 30% CPU and 1.3GB ram (300mb in BI) of 4gb.

I am following your wise suggestion to purchase an i5-3470 but until it gets here is there something i can do to smooth this out temporarily?

wifi is likely your problem. Also ensure you are using direct to disk recording and running the licensed version
