Here is the news broadcast link;
Man arrested after hours-long standoff

It has been a while since this happened, but I feel now I can post this for the forum.
On May 19th 2018 @ 4:15AM a neighbor directly across the street pull out a 357 pistol and begins shooting homes. Emptying his weapon and reloading to take more shots. Bullets were located in 4 homes including ours, plus 2 more that hit the asphalt roadway in front of our home and house south of us. He sent bullets into both homes north and south of his, just missing a child asleep in a bedroom

and breaking out 2 windows of the home south of him.
Our next door neighbors to north, entered through the house and stopping in the next wall.
The one that hit ours went through a porch post and lodged inside the house outside wall, just missing wife asleep on couch and me in the computer room.

Strangely I predicted this would happen and told the wife that someday he is going to shoot up the neighborhood. This guy has been nose diving his life with alcohol and now he included meth into the mix. We live in a very respectable neighborhood, but this shithead just happens to live in it. Police took me to the side and warned me very specifically to be careful when he is released. They mentioned that their hands are tied because of Washington State laws and that he could cause additional harm and damage when he returns home after serving time. They seemed very informative about making sure we protected ourselves at all cost if something was to happen again. They were unhappy that this guy would even get out at all. I thanked them for the warning giving.

Police arrived seconds after the shots were fired, then SWAT arrived soon after. Below is a short video of SWAT launching tear gas into the home. They sent approximately 40 to 60 canisters into the house, staining the walls yellow from all the condensed gas. The German Shepard you see is one of the house owner's dogs, not a police dog.

The neighbor after hours of sitting in his basement and being completely gassed finally surrendered and was taken to jail and booked for multiple counts of assault and remains there under a $100,000 bond. Right after he surrendered, SWAT entered the house. Notice the broken windows from tear gas launchers. only 2 windows survived in the entire house. A SWAT tank came into back yard and flattened the cyclone fence and an extend ram on vehicle pushed holes into house walls and broke in windows to send teargas in from the rear of house.

After it was over, the entire law enforcement had a huge Pow Wow show below.

It was a crazy morning for sure and I hope the guy stays in jail for a long time. I heard rumors that he will be required to attend some special classes of some kind and he is not to return to the neighborhood or he will be placed back in jail. Though he has not gotten out at this time.

if he's likely to come back you should all sue to have bulletproofing on your homes so you've some protection if he flips out again!

smiley13.gif That is certainly disconcerting; I feel for you and your family...and all of your neighbors. You should arm yourself and, IMO, you need only a decent 12-guage shotgun. Forget about the Ninja black rifle; in a pinch, a shotgun is the very best weapon for close quarters self-defense (barring years of training and live-fire experience with a handgun). Purchase a Mossberg 500 or a Remington 870 and teach everyone in your household the 10 Commandants of Firearm Safety and how to aim it , how to fire it and how to hit a target with it. Then keep it safe, but accessible and ready to go.

Glad nobody was hurt in the incident.
Is that a LED Ir light on the bottom right corner of the vid? or a LED white light?
Its IR illumination.

Really sorry you had to go through this, I may add to Q's post, GET training. Practice until you can do it in your sleep....as you may have to.

When is this country going to wake up and stop giving more rights to criminals, derelicts, druggies, and crazies than normal people?

When did this happen in @Bradmph’s OP? Sounds like @Mr_D is spouting fantasy bullshit which has yet to happen in this story.

Well, he does live in California...which does tend to do what he's saying.
Our constitution guarantees equal rights under the law; that’s what our founding fathers guaranteed all Americans, both law abiding citizens and convicted criminals. This is why the police need a warrant before searching your home and why those convicted have the right of appeal. And seeing as noting unconstitutional has transpired in this story Mr_D should stop manufacturing made-up bullshit, or go work for the fake news media.

So we have a convicted criminal who everyone knew would hurt someone, but the system takes the "well let's wait until he kills someone" attitude. He never should have had that chance. I guess kids don't get the right to not be shot in their sleep by a known criminal.

There is nothing in the OP — or your comment on the OP — which indicates that this deranged indivivual was afforded “more rights” than any American citizen is entitled to. You have alluded that, in this story, this has happened. It didn’t, therefore you have lied. You should apologize to the members of this forum.

Insane story. it really goes to show that no matter how careful you are in life, there are people that are simply animals. Maybe the drugs caused it etc, but when the person you are dealing with isn't playing with a full deck, theres no predicting their behavior or willingness to take a life. Shooting up the neighborhood for no reason - shooting at houses. Seriously WTF. I'm all for the police playing by the rules, but we seriously need to look at how we deal with the violent and crazy.

Actually convicted felons lose a number of rights. They cannot own firearms for one.

True, but bear in mind the operative word here: "felons".... Felons tend to NOT obey laws, including the one stating they are not to own firearms.
