I have a DS-2CD2732F-IS mounted on the wall in my garage. It takes too long to switch between day/night mode when the garage light comes on. I'm guessing this was just a poor choice of camera for the job? I've played around with the sensitivity and filtering time but it still doesn't switch fast enough.

It also triggers the motion even when the overhead light (on the garage opener) finally switches off. Any settings I should look at adjusting, or should I look into a different camera choice for inside the garage?

Hi, from my experience,
The minimum delay is 5 seconds in the settings.
This allow in 99% of the cases to be adaptative to the environement : Clouds and Sun, shadows, sudent flashes, etc...
The cam doesn't react as a simply switch, but analyze the field before switching to IR, to allow in periods of the day, like end of day or earlier in the morning not to switch every 1 sec from day to night and enter in flip-flop mode.

This is what happens also to motion event: light on and off creates an alarm, this is quite normal.

For your case I suggest to have external IR light, or a switch to driver the opening and closing the garage door.
I do not really see another alternative, and another camera will probably not solve your problem.

Alternative solution: change cam place, not to have the suddent light opening the door.

No magic solution, try to fine tune your settings...

You will have this issue with any camera...its never going to be instant..i would just leave it in place..its not like you are missing video, its just black and white.
Every camera will trigger motion when a light turns on and off unless you attach a pir motion sensor to it.

Thanks for the replies. I am looking into attaching a pir motion sensor to it. So much to learn!
