Hey guys, I am in need of a new wireless indoor camera. I had a cheap Foscam PTZ but the web GUI to set it up is terrible and I am ready to moveOn. With that said I am looking for a new wide angle camera just to give me a general idea of what’s going on the house, when house cleaners come or maintenance people. It does not have to be amazing quality but it should have good web interface for set up and adjustments. It must be Wi-Fi because the location I plan to install it there is only power and it’s far too difficult for me to run ethernet to that location. (Or a trip least in my head it is) I know there are some good indoor cameras with their own apps, but I would like this to record to my Blue Iris system. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out. Thinking $150 or less for this one.

For indoors, we were rather partial to the Annke I61DR 2 MP and Hykamic 4 MP rebrands of Hikvision 'cube' cameras. Unfortunately, the supply of those has mostly dried up. Amcrest is simply the former Foscam USA business, selling re-branded cameras from different sources, Dahua being one of them.

Amazing, it appears the Hykamic 4.0 Megapixel rebrand is back in stock!!

$89 and worth a lot, lot more.

I have been looking at this one because I like the form factor of it been compact, I like that it is black so it blends in the house better and I like that it has good support and good reviews for set up. But with this work with Blue Iris? Amcrest ProHD 1080P WiFi Camera 2MP (1920TVL) Indoor Pan/Tilt Security Wireless IP Camera IP2M-841B (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0145OQTPG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_L6fkBbBCKFBWH
HI Cali,

Yes, I have read reports from various users that i will work w/Blue Iris.
There is also a PoE version of that camera.

I've seen it go for =<$60

There is also a Hikvision version, I've seen it on the LaView website - they had a deal on that one recently, about $50-60

Ah, here it is:

If you've a local power socket but no means to run network cables you could consider the home-plug ethernet over power units as a solution. LAN cable from camera to the plug, then at the switch/NVR end the same. You can get units with pass-thru power, might be another option to improve your camera choice pool. Just go with the higher speed units so you minimise any lag etc. Won't support PoE on these tho so you'd still need the wall wart.

Thanks guys! I took your advice and got the Hiki cam https://www.amazon.com/Hykamic-Megapixels-Wireless-Security-Camera/dp/B06XDCC674?tag=ipctk-20

The device showed up with a dead wall wart. Swapped it for a working one and get it set up at home to test. The image looks really good for the price. Unfortunately, my wall wart keeps falling out and the computer board inside is mounted a little funky, so I had to return. I ordered another and will continue testing it. Thanks, everyone.

Def was not easy to setup. Had to dust off my old networking skills (if I have any) and use a windows only app sda to find what ip address it was using. Then WPS decided to work on the 10th attempt. A touchy power supply cable wasn't helping...Can't wait to get the replacement unit.

I would have never thought of this! I ordered a ethernet over power plug to test. Could be very useful to get better wifi to the guest house. Or this camera. Will report back. This unit has a built in wifi antenna to broads cast my wifi in the second home. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AWRUICG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hopefully, 600mbps is fast enough for one camera and basic internet browsing.

'Ang about. I had this set up in three minutes. I didn't test the power supply as I used POE. Once I saw it was on line, it took less than two minutes to see the video on my phone.

I will say that the audio is useless. It's almost pure noise; not as bad as EDM, but just as useless.

I've had my 9 camera system for about 2 years. I got it at Costco and been relatively happy with it. They are the ones that use BNC cables, which is pretty much coaxed with a power cable connected. I recently helped my cousin set up a 4 camera setup on his 2 story house, his are a little higher res but still the ones that use BNC cables.

I wanted to ask you, please

Hello, everyone. I didn't think it would be so hard to find a casino to play slots on the internet. It seems like there's a lot of options, but which one to choose? I decided to write to you and ask, where do you recommend to look right now? I recently found this site with reviews of different casinos thegametownstudio.com. What do you think about it all? Can you give me some advice based on your experience?

I recently helped my cousin set up a 4 camera setup on his 2 story house, his are a little higher res but still the ones that use bnc cables. This is no easy job, and i'm very handy, working in the attic is horrible especially now that its hot. Setting up his 4 cameras probably still took us like 6 hours and i had a good idea how to do everything from prior experience. Find the locations where you want the cameras and then go in your attic and see if they are easily accessible, if you can run the cable without it looking horrible on the outside and do it without falling of the damn roof.
Thanks, but this is a custom home and there is no attic space. The roof is the cieling. It has 20-30ft. cielings and a steep roof for the snow load. Hence the reason to get a wireless cam inside. Also, no real basement and the location for the camera is the middle level of the open design home. All outside cams are wired.

Hopefully it should do but would've been better to get a faster one these days as they're better tech (MIMO), you rarely hit the quoted speed esp over distance but as a starter unit to test the idea it was a good price. You can always add further ones if you need to but you'd need to stick with the same AV600 spec or change these up to a higher spec when you do. I used to run AV500's and they were fine for streaming HD from my fileserver to the TV MCE in another room. I upgraded to 4x TP-link AV1200's which are a lot quicker, but UK wiring is different to US methods and my setup is all inside the same 2 floor building. These carry the IP CCTV from the various locations back to the NVR as well as server traffic between the main and backup servers and streaming traffic from the main server to the MCE. I ended up running a cat5e out to the shed in the garden rather since I had spare cable laying around than buying another EoP plug which was my original plan.

Is the guest house on a separate mains feed, or feed from a breaker on the main house distribution board and same meter? If the latter then it may work ok but be down on speed, but if its on its own feed it probably won't work as the meter would pretty much kill off the signal. Worth checking the effect any lighting and heavy gear like washing machine have on the throughput too, some LED bulbs are dreadful and causing noise on the main wiring and drops the data rate badly.

Thanks Aengus4h. Different breaker, same meter. Not sure it will work since they are basically separate houses, but worth a shot! Let you know how it works and the speed!

Biggest impediment to power-line adapters is when the two ends are on different/separate legs/phases of the house wiring. 220VAC into your house is supplied as two separate 110VAC phases/legs. If the devices are on different phases, they probably won't communicate at all. The solution is an old one from the days of X-10 devices, where a phase coupler is connected between the phases to provide data connectivity.

true, was forgetting that your mains system is different to us, over here the homes get 240v from one phase only so we don't need to consider that. But there is always the potential that separate floors on separate breakers cause similar results, then you need to bridge the EoP's on the different rings to improve connectivity so I guess the same could work across phases.

If the blinking led's are bothersome, put a piece of electrical tape over them. That's what I did to mine.
