I did see those jumpers when I opened up mine to check capacitor/etc when mine bricked from upgrading FW. Which jumper(s) did you disconnect? JP14 or JP15 or both jumpers in that picture. Also, was there a change log for the latest RCA Security app? I haven't used the RCA app since initial setup back in Jan as Ezviz and Hik's app were better in my mind at that time. I have LED front porch light that is auto-on/off at dusk/dawn so IR stays off but this manual disconnect power leads workaround should work.
are you sure yours was bricked??? use ivms-4200 or web GUI to log in and then hit reboot. don't use the app to try to log in. after rebooting using ivms4200 or web gui, use phone app to add it manually using serial number and verification code. i always do it like that without any problem

Confirmed! The IR lights are off and the picture quality is great. We have an overhead light above our door that provides all the illumination we need.

So in summary:

1) Remove the 4 screws to release the back cover. There will be a piece of heat sink compound that may detach itself. Be sure to save this and place it back over the two chips it came from when re-assembling.

2) Remove the three Philip's screws and detach the connectors connecting the main board to the housing.

3) Disconnect J14 and J15 as noted in the picture above

4) While you are here, take the time to clean the camera lens and inner dome lens. As others have noted, it makes a difference.

5) Reassemble and enjoy IR free performance!

Yes, it was bricked. No lights whatsoever after it got to 80% upgrade bar and rebooted. Couldn't ping it, couldn't get to web GUI even after holding reset button for a minute.

Great job on the manual option to disable IR illumination glare and probably save on power consumption within doorbell unit as well.

My RCA was constantly going offline so I did a reset. With the updated RCA app it doesn't let me configure the device password so I cannot reconnect it to my NVR. Is there a default password? Also in the RCA app under LAN live view the verification password from the device sticker does not work.

Try one of the other apps, like from LaView or HikVision. I know for a fact that the LaView app prompts for a device password after resetting and adding the doorbell - I just did it the other day.

Find the verification code under the face plate (beneath the dome lens to the left of the QR code)
user name: admin

So I was doing some thinking regarding questions several folks have asked regarding intercepting the doorbell button being pressed so something else can be triggered and I have a theory that it might be possible to do this. Given that all communication regarding the doorbell button is done via IP network protocols, it should be possible to identify packets being sent to the "cloud" service that normally sends doorbell presses to the mobile apps. If the doorbell press traffic is HTTPS encrypted (likely, but need to confirm this), it might be more complicated but there may be identifiable traits that would not require reading of the actual packet data, just the basic properties.

I am going to do some research this weekend if I have time with Wireshark to try and figure out how to uniquely identify the packets from the doorbell containing button presses. The theory is that this packet can be listened for using a small application resident on another device on the local network that can then trigger something else (Smart Hub such as Smartthings, etc) as opposed to having to rely on a separate app and a backend cloud service in China or otherwise (something I've never been totally comfortable with).

Which app are you using in the screenshot? It doesn't look like my HIK-Connect version?

1) with the app to check status, but not browse the folder. you can access video via playback mode
2) no, the doorbell can upload JPG to a ftp server, but not videos
3) no clue
4) yes, auto overwrite oldest

I just picked up the RCA flavor of this doorbell (I prefer the lack of logo on the faceplate).. set it up and upgraded the firmware to 180515. I was frustrated with the inconsistent delays with my Nest Hello so I decided to give this a try.. Very impressed so far - been testing it all day now with no delays for notifications, doorbell presses result in an immediate push notification to my iPhone.. the audio and video quality aren't quite what the Nest Hello provided, but that's an OK trade-off in my book.

What's the consensus for a client app to use with this? I did add it to my Blue Iris setup (I have 11 other IP cameras around the property), but in terms of getting a notification on the doorbell button press to initiate a conversation, which client app is the best overall? RCA Security, Hik-Connect, LaView, etc?

I just received my doorbell today. It's up, and running with the RCA software. It works pretty well. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it into BI with the rest of my cameras. BI finds the camera, but that's about where it ends. What am I missing?

i've used all of them before and still have all of them on various phones. RCA app got redesigned GUI and seemed stable. but internally they are all the same, probably because hikvision also sold the source code to them. all of them have two bugs so far in iOS: notification number at the corner of app shortcut keeps counting up without being reset, and 2nd bug is the replay in landscape view cannot be exited if the replay video has finished - has to restart the replay to turn back to normal view. I didn't see these two bugs in android version.

hikvision app has about two to three more new features than the rest of apps because hikvision updates their app quite often.

i read someone posted info on this thread long time ago, If you want to add it to something like Blue Iris then you need to use the following address: rtsp://ipaddress/mpeg4/ch01/main/av_stream
did you purchase blue iris? from blue iris website it seems it's only free for certain functionalities. it is not free however if you want to record video to hard disk or drive. is it so? i am trying to get a software to do it.
