Hi All

I currently have two Dahua IPCs setup as you might know from my other posts. Extremely happy in that I have them both setup and they appear stable, this is thanks to guidance from people here.

I have tried setup external access with some success, but I am getting a new router, so am putting the whole Open VPN setup off until that arrives.

For now, focusing on what I can do on my LAN, I am trying to get both cameras viewable on my television.

My current setup is (my Dahua NVR is left out for now)

two IPC -> CAT 6 to POE switch in attic -> CAT 6 from POE switch to terminal in wall in front hallway downstairs -> CAT 6 into my current router.

I have TV that is located quite a distance from the front hallway, and would like to be able to view the live feed from the two cameras on it.

Any recommendations? Was thinking of getting an Android box and connecting to tv and installing gDMSS on it? Would that work?

Many Thanks

I’m using a HDMI modulator to modulate the HDMI Signal from my NVR to the antenna signal feed for the whole house. Now I’m able to broadcast the live view of the NVR on every TV in the house with DVB.
I don’t know your location, so the kind of modulator you need might be different. I’m living in Europe and use a DVB-T Modulator. I know in the US they use another kind of DVB, but I think you might also get a HDMI modulator for your region.

I am in Western Europe. Although I have no NVR in my current setup nor do I have an antenna for the house. My TV channels are through IPTV ( I have no Antenna nor satellite dish)

Interested too in your setup @Crazykiller, at least to understand how you "forward" mouseclicks towards your NVR ;-) I found (chinese) HDMI extenders over UTP, with possibility to "modulate" a mouse signal towards the NVR, however, it only worked for infrared-driven mice.

Thanks!CC

Actually I’m using this one EDISION HDMI MODULATOR single DVB-T

@catcamstar I don’t control the mouse with that. For me it’s not really necessary at the moment. I was thinking about a WiFi presenter or something like that, but didn’t test it yet, because I’m not in the need. I have a display in my entrance hall from which I control my NVR. On the TVs it’s only in addition to have the possibility to view from every room.
You’ll also have a little delay with the modulation which would make it a little difficult to control the mouse in real-time. I have a wireless mouse in the entrance hall and tested it in the kitchen. The delay of about 1,5 seconds for the modulation makes it more difficult to control.
Maybe with more expensive modulators you’ll have a lower delay, but for that it didn’t worth a 1000€ for me. The one I got costs about 150€.

You won’t need an antenna as long as you have the cabling in your house. But I assume you also have no antenna cabling if you don’t have an antenna. I’m also in Western Europe and antenna cabling is usual here. I’ve got eight outlets in my house which are feeded by a multi switch.

Friend has gone down the Android box route and has gone through a number of them, I am not 100% sure of the reasons, but they do not appear to like running 24/7 with an app like ivms, they basically 'burn' out and no they are not just cheap ones :(
In the end we did some work with extended HDMI using splitters and the best result was obtained, but this looks interesting.
