@tangent True, it might be IMX327. There is no information confirming it's one or the other. But given that both 4239 and 4231 exhibit similar noise levels at adequate gain levels (same image brightness) it seems to me, it's still IMX290. The IMX327 is said to have better low light performance - SNR1s of 0.18 lux - while IMX290's SNR1s is 0.23 lux.

It is imx327 - 100% sure. Have confirmation directly from Dahua source

Can you (wopi82) do a test comparing 4239 and 8232? Very interesting can it be. And it will be out of mind test between 4239/8232/8835

Sure. Just send me 8232 :D
I've got the dome-flavor of the 8232 (mounted over my front door... don't really want to unhook/move) and the 4239... I might be able to mount the 4239 next to it to compare.
I've also got my SD65F230F which I STILL haven't installed yet... it's got the same sensor. Might be easier to compare those two!?

That would be nice.

Haven't had a chance to mount my other cam for comparison purposes, but I just got the 4239 mounted outside facing my driveway.

When I had it inside, it looked fine, but it sure does look out of focus now... yikes! Granted, this is a bit after midnight w/ several lights illuminating the scene, but I don't think the exposure/shutter settings have much to do with focus... right? Since this is a fixed-focus cam, can I open it up & tweak it a bit by hand? looks like I might be able to get to some of the lens assembly from the bottom access panel.

And yeah, the lil' car is pretty filthy! :)

Looks like the lens focus adjustment screw got loose.
Wonder how easy it can be accessed in that kind of a bullet housing...
Could you please take a pic of the lens once you open the camera up, if you have a chance?
Thank you

ok, i was able to tweak the lens just a bit... I didn't need to unhook anything, just opened up the access panel & twisted the lens w/ some small pliers. It seemed to go in & out of focus rather easily.. just sorta by nudging the thing, so I suspect something else is loose. Anyway, the focus is much better now and basically in a state of perpetual sunset w/ that street light on the corner.

@LoLight - I took a pic w/ my phone.. not great, but it was to help me see what I was fiddling with as much as anything :)

Compared to Wopi's pic, looks like mine is lacking some glue! I see the green power LED inside and while it could be easily covered w/ some electrical tape, I can't see it unless I'm standing at a particular angle & up rather close.

I'm mostly on the default/auto settings... I had to tilt it downwards to avoid the direct view of the light, but the angle works.
I've got a few 12v accent lights on the front of my house, but they're mostly covered by shrubs.

Thanks for the pic xyvyx.
It's strange that the lens is not secured in any way to prevent it from easily getting out of focus.
My understanding is that the factory always applies some kind of a thread locker/torque seal substance.
Looks like they "forgot" that step in your particular unit.

Isn't Dahua HFW4231T-ASE "Max. IR LEDs Length 60m" superior than 4239T-ASE . I dont understand the need of a separate model. Recently i purchased 4231t , yet to test its performance
These cameras have different types of sensors. The 4239 does NOT do infrared (black & white night vision) but can operate in color on very little light. If you want to capture an image in "total darkness", then the standard type of camera w/ IR illuminators (like the 4231 and most other models mentioned here) is the way to go.

I am really look forward a comparison of 8232/SD65F230F vs 4239 since you have both. It will interesting to see the performance of F1.0 lens with IMX327 vs F1.4 lens with IMX185 sensor.

Sorry 'bout the delay. Mounting the big SD65 somewhere near the 4239 is gonna be tricky, at least such that it can't be messed with if I left it mounted for a few days.

So... new plan, I ordered the dome flavor of the 4239 which should be delivered in a few days. I'll be able to attach them side-by-side on a test bracket and move them around with different lighting conditions.
