Hello, I have a couple of questions / problems with this camera that I'm hoping someone here can help me out with. Sorry about the lengthy post, I'm trying to include all the info that I can into the post.

A couple of years ago I got a Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I camera. I ran a network cable up thru my siding and got a POE injector and got everything set up. I tried the Hikvision software, but ended up using iSpy to have the camera record to my WHS 2011 server and I used the iVMS-4500 app to view the camera on my phone. Every month or so I would delete the recordings from the folder on my server. Everything seemed to work fine, but one month I noticed that there weren't any new recordings on my server. I also wasn't able to use the app to view the camera from my phone.

I went thru a bit of troubleshooting, and am thinking that the issue is related to the DDNS upgrade that required devices to be registered at hik-online.com. I went thru the steps on the site, but haven't been able to register the camera. Below are some screen shots of the pages / errors that I'm receiving. Hopefully someone can give me some direction / assistance.

These are the pages that come up when I go to "www.hik-online.com/dar124".

Then when I go to the new "www.hik-connect.com" site and log in to try to add my camera with it's serial number I get the error that the device is offline.

The camera still lights up red at night, so I know it's getting power. I did borrow a new POE injector from work and I get the same results. I'm trying to avoid removing the camera from the house, as it was kinda tricky to get everything wired up behind the siding. I would also be ok w/ doing some sort of "reset" on the camera and starting the config from fresh from the beginning (if that's possible??)

I was also told to update the camera's firmware. Its currently on v5.2.0 build 140721 and I know there is a v5.4.0 build 160530 out there. But I'm not sure how to update the firmware if I cant access the camera via the web browser??

Thanks in advance for any assistance w/ this.

I'm pretty sure it does. That is where I checked the firmware version yesterday. I'll check when I get home later today and let you know for sure and also if I can ping the camera's IP address.

Save your self some time and learn about a VPN connection
Hik-Connect will require you to turn on upnp and port forwarding, and that’s not recommended
They have a p2p on some firmware which doesn’t require any port forwarding
Just the correct 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4
Been down this road before, and explained it does work.

does SADPtool see the camera? Can you ping it from a command prompt?

So it looks like the SADP tool does see the camera. And pinging the IP listed in the SADP tool gives the below results.

But I'm not sure where the "192.0.0.64" IP address came from?? I had "192.168.1.200" listed as the address that I changed the IP for the camera to. Below is the result from pinging that IP address.

So neither IP address really has "good" results.

Using SADP change the camera address to 192.168.1.200. The other address 192.0.0.64 is a different subnet and you cannot reach it to ping.

I tried changing the IP address to 192.168.1.200 yesterday, but every password I try doesn't work. Seems to be one problem after another!!!

I did find 2 newer versions of firmware on Hikvision's website. But I'm not sure how to update it because I'm unable to connect to the camera or log into the camera's web interface ...

Your camera has likely been hacked, the system set back to defaults, and the password changed.
Due to it being accessible from the internet (which allows the entire world to mess with it), and vulnerabilities such as the Hikvision backdoor' which make it easy to mess with.

Suggestion:
For that version of firmware, try 12345 or 123456789 as the password when changing the IP address via SADP.
If that doesn't work check out and download (because you'll need to change the PC IP address) the password reset tool from here : Hikvision camera admin password reset tool
Set the PC IP address to a value in the same space, such as 192.0.0.128 and reset the password, set one of your own choice.

Then - presuming it's a China region camera as most of these are - consider using the brickfixv2 full upgrade tool to install updated firmware that fixes the original backdoor with this method : R0 / DS-2CD2x32 BrickfixV2 brick recovery and full upgrade tool - enhanced.

Ok, I tried both 12345 and 123456789 as the passwords, but neither worked.

I should have some time tomorrow and also this weekend to look at that "Hikvision password reset tool". I know the camera isn't a Chinese region camera, it has a "WR" in the serial number. Which should indicate that its not a Chinese region camera.

I'll post back with additional info after using the password reset tool.

I got a bit of free time this evening, so I looked into some of these password reset tools.

A couple of things ...

I downloaded the "PasswordResetHelper1.1" from bp2008/HikPasswordHelper But I didn't see an .exe file in the download to launch a program?? Not sure if I missed it?? Or I'm just not sure how to run it??

So, I then tried to get a "Password Reset Code" from Hikvision Password Reset Tool I power cycled my camera, entered the Serial Number, year, month and day into the site and got a reset code. I copied and pasted that code into the SADP tool and got the below error.

But as I was looking over things, I noticed in the SADP tool that the camera now had the correct 192.168.1.200 IP address. Not sure how that changed?? Maybe by power cycling the camera, but I guess that's good??

And now when I ping "192.1681.200" I get:

I'm still not able to connect to the camera, but hopefully this gets us a bit closer to having this camera work again.

Hold on. I may have responded here too soon. There was an additional file in my downloads folder that launched the "Hikvision Password Reset Tool". And I was able to reset the password. So I'm logged into the camera via a web browser as an admin.

I'm thinking that from the web browser, I should be able to update the firmware first to v5.3.0 and then to v5.4.0??

And then that should let me add the camera as a device in the "hik-connect.com" page??

Another quick update before I call it a night here.

I was able to update the firmware from v5.2.0 to v5.3.0 and then to v5.4.0. I logged back in to the camera using the IP address in a browser. FYI, I also updated the info in the ivms-4500 app on my phone and I'm now getting an image there as well!!!

But when I go to "www.hik-connect.com" and enter the camera serial number to register the camera, it still shows the below error that the device is offline.

I definitely feel like we're getting closer, but still not all the way there.

Ok, I'm looking at this again here.

From what I've looked at online today, I'd need to enable the Hik-Connect service on the camera and then I can log on to the Hik-Connect site and add my camera.

In the pic below, it seems that Hik Cloud P2P is enabled (and the camera is offline??). I'm not able to add the camera on the Hik-Connect site. Maybe because it's access mode is the Hik Cloud P2P and not Hik-Connect?? But there aren't any other options in the Platform Access Mode drop down??

Not sure what my next step should be??

I'm a bit confused because the camera isn't "offline". Here's a screen shot of the live view as I'm posting this.

I don't use hik-connect - but I think you are using an older firmware that does not support it.

You've maybe seen this - if not, they may be helpful :
https://www.hikvision.com/europe/News--Events/Press-Releases/306385755384805
Here are the set-up instructions:
1.Download the latest v2.0 Hik-Connect App at IOS App Store or Google Play
2. Register a Hik-Connect account via Hik -Connect web portal (www.hik-connect.com) or Hik-Connect App
3. Upgrade devices to the proper firmware that supports Hik-Connect
NOTE: New Hik-Connect firmware will not support HiDDNS function
4. Enable “Hik-Connect” on devices local or web GUI, and configure corresponding parameters if necessary
5. Add devices into the registered account at Hik-Connect App/Hik- Connect web portal
6. The new registered device is ready to use
