its preset, if you tried to change zoom level like that the car would be long gone before it was done and back in focus

Hey nayr, this zoomed in substream is zoomed in digitally, right? It wouldn't look right mounting two cameras side-by-side :p

entirely different, that just changes encoding priority.. this actually gives you zoomed in substream.

I have not seen this feature on any other Dahua.. this is kinda a game changer, might be using this camera for LPR use afterall.. we'll have to see how far away this thing can ID plates

its not actually zoomed in on anything, its just cropping a 720p resolution image out of a 4MP sensor instead of scaling it.

for this specific location, probably one of these: Amazon.com: BOSCH SECURITY VIDEO ISC-BPR2-WP12 Blue Line Gen2 PIR Motion Detector for Security Systems: Camera & Photo

just because they are cheap, I prefer to use the TriTech sensors typically but I dont think this place needs it.. its going to be installed on the underside of shelf above facing straight down with of course pet-immunity disabled.
does the input on this cameras works either way in a (NO/NC) for the two states.

Unfortunately it appears the Z5 version doesn't have the 2.600 firmware available as yet. Mine came with 2.460.0000.3 and I upgraded to the .7 but alas no 720p crop mode yet. It's a bugger because a 720p crop would cover the street nicely.

Any updates on the firmware front?

I check the Dahua website fairly frequently but no updates as yet. I'm not brave enough to try loading the Z version 2.600 series firmware onto my Z5 in case I brick it. It is working fine otherwise.

I am looking to monitor license plates 24/7 at about 150 feet or so away at a 10-15 degree angle. Would this be recommended? With the 25mm lens?

faith? usually if its MJPEG capable it can do both.. its a legacy feature thought thats quickly vanishing... most cheap-o cameras, like the Huisuns and Longse's wont even give you a MJPEG stream at all.. so they cant be used with free version of OpenALPR
Does that mean the free version of OpenALPR is exclusively MJPEG?
If the datasheet for a camera states "H.265+/H.265/H.264+/H.264" would that still work for OpenALPR?
How much is the paid or pro version of it and what are the additional benefits to paying for it?
