I am looking for 1000' outdoor white direct burial ethernet cable but not having much luck, all i find is black and the ones i find in white just seem to be for outdoor above ground. I will be burying alot of it.

I will be using this for POE cameras, not sure if it needs to be cat6 or cat5e

Any help would be appreciated.

Lots of info on this back in January: Source for white outdoor Ethernet cable?

Thanks, I looked at that before however most of them are black or just UV rated and not rated direct burial

Yes, you are right...I guess most folks don't care about white because it'll be buried underground...at least that's my take on what they mean by "direct burial". I understand you will NOT be burying ALL of it and want that part to be white. I'd consider encasing that part (of a black, direct burial-rated jacket) in a white UV-rated sleeve or paint it. If not, good luck on your quest!

You may be gun-shy about my suggestions, but here goes: Insure it's all solid copper, not CCA crap, and go with 23 gauge CAT-6 if approaching 300 feet, as the larger gauge affords greater distance with less voltage drop for a given current for the POE.

Primus Cable makes direct burial rated Cat5e cable in white (P/N C5CMXT-107WH). Only catch is you can only get it in a pull box. Should be fine for your average residential install.

Shielded CAT5E Outdoor Cable, Waterblock Tape | Primus Cable
Well there ya go, @peste19 ! :D

It's 24 gauge but unless you're either pushing close to 100m / 328 feet per run AND have an abnormally high POE current load, it should work great.
It's also shielded but unless something else comes along, it seems like it's a winner.

I am sure it goes without saying, but I would be recommended to put a well grounded surge protector on that.

Not sure where you live, but if you have a Graybar Electrical Supply, Datacomm & Industrial Equipment nearby then you can get it by the roll, with reasonable pricing.

You are probably not going to find plant/direct burial cable in colors other than black most likely, if you do I would be pretty suspect of the product, not knockin Primus just in general. You can find some CMX in white, that is reasonably priced.

In my experience it is usually cheaper to put cable in conduit, than to buy shielded and greased cable, unless you are running it on polls. Ofcourse it is much harder to bury conduit than cable, if you have cable equipment.

Google words for non-plenum cable.

Outside Plant, OSP, Direct Service, CMX(UV)
