I live in the suburbs near Seattle. We have lots of critters, but even my neighbors who have been here for 30 years never saw a bear... Until today, when one showed up and pillaged my bird feeders!

It spent about 10 minutes wrecking the feeders and having a snack, then waddled off.

I got the whole thing on my Huisin PTZ v1, which I normally keep on the bird feeders so I can watch them from work. Today I happened to be home so I saw it all live, too.

What a neat animal! Now... Please go away.

In the mountains, the advice is generally to not feed the birds while bears are out of hibernation. Electric fencing is one of the most effective ways of discouraging them, but it will probably be trapped and relocated.

The bear may return for more food and possibly bring his/her family also. Best to inform appropriate authorities now to get emergency assistance later. It can harm people and dogs if provoked.

The authorities were informed and didn't give a hoot.

I do not live in the mountains or in anything you'd think of as bear country, which is why this was so weird.

I guess the bear did not get the memo.

The bear is in a new environment for some reason. Lost, sick, chased away by other bears? It will look for food and that means garbage etc. My bet is that the authorities will hear more of the bear. Thanks for the pictures.
