Doing cable pulls for camera and other wiring projects has seen me getting all sorts of specialized equipment to make life easier. I have to give a shout out for techtoolsupply.com because they really came through when a "labor saving" device turned out to not work at all for me.

I got a BaseBorzeZit, a drill that purportedly can drill through a baseboard and deflect itself vertically to be inside the wall cavity. Seemed like a great tool that would save me from pulling baseboards. The one I got never worked right. It would drill straight into the floor plate or deflect and travel left along the drywall. Never would go into the wall cavity.

Techtoolsupply allowed return and full refund for the non-working tool AND covered shipment back.
That is fantastic customer service. They are tops in my book for specialized tools.

I just watched the video, nice took. The video showed him pulling carpet back and on the model with trim on the bottom, the camera never turned to face the baseboard molding to show how big of a hole it leaves in the bottom of the baseboard moulding.

Yep, notched up the bottom of my baseboards AND failed to drill the desired hole. Ended up doing a lot more work than without the Base Boar-Zit. Was a WTF! moment when I found the first hole was not even into the wall. Then the next one went just straight horizontal.

I was going to give up right then and there. Wife suggested that another baseboard would be different. Ugh - same bad result and now 2 baseboards to repair and drill using other means.

Sorry it didn't work. Me I would feel much safer pulling the baseboard rather than taking a chance drilling thru it.

Personally, they'd be down at the bottom of my list for knowingly supplying a tool not fit for purpose.

Maybe a different unit works for someone else, but the one I got sure didn't do what it was supposed to do.

Very happy to have gotten it returned and refunded. Some places would have stuck the customer with the bum tool.
