What’s the best camera for night vision in colour?

Any brand. Prefer hik as my nvr is hik. Budget is £300-£350

Just want to add 1 good camera to my system that’s really! good in the dark.

I currently have 2385s x4 but they go black and white just as it starts to get dark. I did turn the mode off so it stayed in colour in the night but it was very poor. I have street lights about 8m away from my door. They stay on all through the night

A friend of mine just had some starlight 5mp cams fitted Dahua there good but not that good! Would ideally want better.

Hi mate, I was looking at this cam but seen the lux was slightly more than a starlight meaning it won’t be as good as a 2mp starlight with a lux rating of 0.001?

Yes that’s correct that Lux is 0.002! Anything lower than that is really expensive with Hikvision. Will try and find something else for you.

Hi buddy just searched the Hikvision website and 0.002 lux is the lowest. Unless you go for the thermal cameras which cost a kidney. haha.

Thanks mate. Well the Dahua starlight cams are 0.001 lux. Not fussed on brand to be honest. Maybe will have to go for the starlight ? They do 5mp starlights but after research seems the 2mp starlights work better in the dark over the 5mp strange!

Not strange at all.

Low light performance is largely a function of the ratio of physical sensor size to megapixel resolution. The lower the resolution, the more light can be captured per megapixel.

Review-Dahua IPC-HDBW4239R-ASE full color camera
you cannot compare lux ratings between brands and even with the same brand its not precise...
there are better low light cameras as well, depends on how much money you have..
Thanks mate

I will pay up to £400 for 1 camera. Do you have any low light cameras in mind for my budget that are best! . ?

Thanks for the link!

Yes the lighting condition there is not too bad. I think Starlight or Dark Fighter (The proper ones and not a darkfighter light will be good there)

Kind Regards

When you say proper Darkfighter witch 1 u mean mate? As seems like there isn’t any that are good in dark in colour. Everyone seems to go for the starlight.

Do you think if I got say a 6mm lense 2385 put into day only mode would it capture the rd/gate well? Being a lamppost right near my gate.
