I found this in the POE Configuration section under "Camera Management".

That is really odd. Maybe someone with knowledge of these particular NVRs can chime in. The wattage values in the display are wacky. What the notes say makes good sense!

Make sure the NVR is on the latest firmware. I believe it’s 3.4.92 for the DS-7608NI-E2. You can download the latest firmware from the same place you got the SADP tool. Please read follow and understand the instructions and warnings on the firmware pages. Main thing to understand is DO NOT skip versions. Default Whatever version it’s on now install that one again and then proceed to install every version until your at the current version. Put the firmware files on a flash drive and plug it into the NVR. Make sure all the cameras are disconnected from the back of the NVR before the upgrade / ‘s

Proceed with upgrade.

At this point the NVR is at its most default settings and you still have all the cameras disconnected.

Check and see if the alarm is there.
If it is, you have a faulty NVR

If it isn’t, the problem lies downstream of the NVR.

Start with the cabling. Make sure your runs of cat5e / cat6 are no more than 300’ using outdoor rated cable where appropriate.

Inspect the RJ45 ends thoroughly, make sure all the pins look nice and shiny and dry with no discoloration or corrosion. If you find anything that gives you pause replace the end just to be sure. Pair test the cable. You can do that with one of thesehttps://www.amazon.com/Zoostliss-Network-Cable-Tester-Networking/dp/B06XZYXN63/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1536772284&sr=8-6&keywords=pair+testerIf these cams are outdoor make sure the weather boot is property installed and the seal is watertight. Inspect the RJ45 socket on the camera. Remember, dry, shiny and straight.

Thanks so much for the input. I was able to download the firmware with no problems, but sure enough, the alarm is still there.

I'm going to check the cameras one by one and see if I can find the culprit. It appears that I have "fried" two separate NVRs. Arghh!

Question though...If I check the cameras one at a time using my laptop connected to the camera, don't I run the same risk of frying my laptop also???

Also, one of the runs is definitely over 300 feet, probably close to 400 feet.
It has worked well these past two years, but may finally be causing problems...
