My Blue Iris computer isn't saving any alerts. As far as I can tell, it's configured properly. I've reviewed the help file under "Alerts" and don't see that anything is wrong. When detecting motion it'll have the alert symbol, but it's not saving anything under the Alerts section.

What do you think might be wrong?

The Alerts folder is not used for anything by default. Video goes into "New".

I believe you will get one jpeg snapshot per event in the Alerts folder if you select the "Store Alerts as hi-res files" option on Camera Properties > Record.

I'm just looking to be able to move the timeline to right where motion was detected. So, if an event was detected at 3:51 PM, I'd like to double click on that event, and have it go to 3:51 PM.

I'm seeing that it storing clips, but when double clicking there is an error. It won't jump to the clip in the timeline.

I've been watching YouTube tutorials and looking at the help file and can't figure it out.

Under "Clips" it says "Motion A 12 sec" but when double clicking that it'll come up with a message: "Sorry, the file could not be found."

you will have to post pics of all your settings including storage and and recording...
try rebuilding the database.

Alright. Sounds like I must have messed something up then. I'll post again in a little while.

I'm not sure how to rebuild the database but I'm assuming that's in the help file so I'll check it out next time I'm by the computer.

Thanks!

Here are some screenshots..
first your storage is setup all wrong...
you need to point the new and stored folders to distinct locations...both point to drive S...you need to create a new and stored folder the S drive and point it there...or better yet dont use the stored option..simply create a new folder then set to delete...
You also have only 30gb of total storage allocated, which is nothing...most of your video will be gone before you can play it back..you need to change the storage limits...dont use a day limit..
you need to watch the video on clips and archiving see thread and read the help file.

Thank you. I'll take a look at the settings in a little while. This is more complicated than I thought. I'm sure it'll be worth the trouble though.

I couldn't understand why it was saying 30 GB. It's over 100 GB / 30 GB now so it's obviously storing more.

you are making it complicated..it doesnt have to be...
simply setup a "new" folder on the s drive. point the new folder to that location...set the new folder to delete. set correct size for your hard drive capacity leaving 5-10 percent free space. done.
remember that 1gb does NOT equal 1000mb...Drive displays a smaller capacity than the indicated size on the drive label | WD Support
if the S drive is a nas there are other considerations as well.

You have new set to 10. You have stored set to 20, alerts to 1. That is 31 gb. Most people use 1000gb, 1tb. You change the default settings with out understanding why.

You need to start learning and using your lazy brain. Use the help files read , read read !!!!

Stop asking stupid questions until you have spent 24 hours reading and looking for the answers.

It's a 4 TB hard drive.. Just did what you said.. "New" is now saving to a folder called "New" on my Purple drive (called S). I set it to 3,000 GB to be on the safe side and set it to "delete" like you said.

You mentioned not using the "Stored" option and just using "New". I don't see a way to disable the "Stored" option.

Edit: Just made stored 0 GB. Maybe that's the way to disable it.

you dont need to disable it or set it to zero...simply set the new folder to delete instead of move to stored...
make sure all the old files are deleted from the drive...

I don't remember changing the default GB settings. I don't know why it set to 30 GB when my hard drive is 4 TB. Maybe it was recognizing the SSD at first and not the Purple drive.

Alright, "New" is set to a folder called "New" with the size of 3,000 GB, set to delete, with the clip age set to 7 days.

Is that correct?

What do you recommend under "Alerts"?

Is it safe to just open up the file manager with Windows 10 and delete the files that way?

Yes... After you do that right click on the clips window and select regenerate database...
Alright. That is done.

Still, when clicking on a motion clip, it has the error "Sorry, the file could not be found."

are these NEW files created after the changes?
if so, post images of the new settings...
also try closing BI, deleting the DB folder completely then opening BI..the DB folder will recreate itself.

Just followed your instructions and it's working!

Thank you!

Now just need to adjust the motion detection settings and I'll be all set.
