Thank you Andy for the excellent service. Swapped out one of my Foscam FI9900P for Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-ZE. Ordered it Sunday and got Friday morning. Up and running and first impression is it is a fantastic camera and upgrade from my FI9900P.

I own a few foscam/amcrest, how do they compare? Are you wowed? LOL I can't sleep most nights lately and it was a cloudless night with the moon out. I was laid there wondering how much better these starlight cams were. I live out in the boonies with ZERO light. So I can't really seem much.

Out of the box I can tell it is a superior camera to the Foscam FI9900P. The Foscam always gave me good image quality during the day except in bright sunlight. I haven't got to check that yet with 5231 because it has bee cloudy lately. Night time is where it really excels. I haven't had a chance to play with the all the available Dahua adjustments, but just using the defaults, the night image is much clearer. You can also adjust the IR level which i think will be a plus. I was having some issues with night images on my Foscam front door camera, so I thought I would try a 5231 there. One thing, is there is more barrel distortion on the Dahua, but it is a true optical zoom where the Foscam is digital. Here is a link to some shots off my Foscam cameras. You can see it is doing some weird images at night. Camera upgrade from Foscam to Dahua suggestions

Here is front door shots at the widest view with the Dahua, you can see the barrel distortion. No adjustment on the settings yet. I used the existing Foscam mount, so it probably not the best angle for this camera. I am thinking about getting the IPC-HDBW4231F-AS Mini Dome for the Front Door and putting this camera on the Driveway.

Thanks for pics, much appreciated. FYI, the link you posted only shows one pic. Not sure if that was intended?? Oh and we be neighbors, LOL, Joplin, MO here.
I need some real cams, gotta get my order is soon. I've been sitting on the pot to long and Andy is going to get a healthy order from me soon.

Should have been several photos in the link. Liking my Dahua so far. You should order one to see how you like it.

Springfield, Mo here

Any of the starlight cam will kick foscam any day. A friend of mine had Swann and he was wowed by the daylight quality but the nighttime was ok until I convicted him to get starlight cam. It made him wowed on both daylight and noghtime

It's worth the investment or otherwise it wouldn't be so popular in this forum
