Hi Chaycock....

I just tried buying a similar product from Amazon and had some pretty bad picture quality:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OZV04BK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The other thing was, that it requires a dedicated ethernet switch to bridge more than one receiver. Can you verify that the AVUE that you purchased works across a mixed network topology (multiple switches, connecting various PC's, cameras, etc)?

Thanks in advance for any detail or other experience you can share on this!

Agreed, the picture quality could be better, however, at least for me, that was not really a factor because I am using the TV view just to get an overview of what is going on. If I need detail or to check something out, I use the BI app.

I use a dedicated switch for bridging receivers mainly because I did not want all that traffic on my main network.

So, have you not tried it on a non-dedicated switch? Just wondering if it can work or not. I don't have a way to easily snake cables from a dedicated switch to all the TV's that I want to use this with.

I tried it and it saturated my network. What I did not try however was some sort of VLAN configuration. I don't have any hardware that supports VLANs, so I was not able to try it.

Hi All,
Maybe someone can help with this one, I have a galaxy tablet that I use to monitor my cameras. The issue I see is there is about a 10 second lag when motion is detected for example, someone will be at door but I won't see them walk up on tablea u til about 10 seconds after. The app in my phone doesn't have that issue and there is almost no lag time. Any suggestions?

You probably should have made a new thread for this. Anyway, are you leaving this tablet running and displaying cameras at all times? Does the lag get worse the longer you leave it on? If so, that would suggest a timing bug in the system -- probably not a bug that would be easy for the developer to reproduce and fix.

Maybe you could try using the web interface instead of the Blue Iris app (also, see my signature if you aren't familiar with my UI2 web interface already). It will use more wifi bandwidth because it will be streaming JPEG frames instead of properly compressed video, but it should always have the minimum possible amount of delay.

It is also possible you could eliminate this delay if you just reduced the resolution and/or bit rate of the stream Blue Iris is sending. Maybe it is a little too much for your tablet.

If you're viewing the tablet on the LAN you might want to try TinyCam. It has an easy way to switch from substream viewing to full resolution if you really need it. I have an older Galaxy Tab 2 and it is pretty sluggish on full resolution with multiple cameras but runs fine on substreams with Tiny Cam. I can switch to full res and pull up a single cam if I really need more detail.

I enabled the Anonymous account in BI for local LAN only. This way it won't require a username and password when I login on the TV. The anonymous account has limited functions such as only viewing cameras. Recorded videos can't be viewed or settings changed.
hi many thanx for your advice . it solved my problem all good now
by the way I looked all over bi help but it never mentioned this
thanx a lot hilary

FYI, you can go to 'Options', 'Users' and modify the 'Anonymous' user to be able to view clips AND change settings (as Admin).
Of course, it's a good idea to have user 'Anonymous' set to 'LAN only'.

Would someone mind sharing how they are using the Samsung smart TV browser to remotely see BI? I am inputting the IP address with the port, but I get an error loading the page. ( Site can't be reached )

I can open the link from the computer running BI, and it is the latest version. I have also tried and failed from another PC on the same network.... I have been searching, but have not found a solution yet.

Thanks in advance.....

Check BI 'Options', 'Web server', insure 'Enable the HTTP web server on port' is checked and you have BI port (such as '81') entered.

Also, insure the BI server has a static IP, not dynamic (DHCP), assigned by you outside of the router's DHCP pool (or set an IP reservation in the router for that IP). That's to insure you're trying the correct IP from the browser.

Thanks for the reply.... turned out the computer I was setting BI on had two firewalls, one was still blocking the port....

Now I have to see how to adjust the UI so the remote does not time out..... BI shows a message to adjust in the UI3 settings, but have yet to find that...… thanks again...….

After launching UI3, click on 3 dots upper right, Select 'UI Settings', then under 'General Settings', near the top choose "The UI will close itself after this many minutes of inactivity (0 to disable)" and enter a number, 0 to keep UI3 open indefinitely.

Should I expect the frame rate from a Samsung TV browser connected to UI3 to be much lower than a PC or laptop viewing the same group? That is what I am not experiencing.... I get around 12 to 15 fps with my laptop, and 2 to 3 with any of the Samsung TV's I connect with........ I did notice that if I click on one camera to enlarge on my PC, the frame rate drops to 2 to 3 as well..... but as my groups are small, I just leave the group view up.......

Thanks.....

Is your tv decoding h264?
I have only tried one of mine tvs, but that one only does jpegs so it is super low framerate. Not ideal, but you can tell when the pizza has arrived!!

It is only showing jpeg as options, so I guess that is the issue. It is the newer Samsungs... is there a TV that decodes H264? Still have to see why opening a single cam drops the frame rate from 15 down to 2 or 3 frames, that does not make sense to me, but must be another setting I need to adjust..... thanks for the input on the jpeg issue.....
