Tech support told me that this happens when you connect Blue Iris to it. Did you by chance do that? Rebooting the camera always fixed it for me.

anyone has problem with 180728 getting motion alert but can't play the recorded video? it worked fine on 171219 but as soon as I update it to 180728 it stop working. I was attributing this to wifi signal problem before, but i have since resolved the wifi signal issue. This is with both the new RCA security and the Hikconnect app

Thanks - no I don't have anything else connected to it currently. Will try the reboot today - I have to remove the cover right?

If it started after the upgrade you probably need to factory default it. That will clear out any old config from the 171219 firmware. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks, that was my next step. I'll report back. I reset the unit last night on 171219 to re set it up on hikconnect, got everything working including MD playback, then upgraded to 180728. The MD picture notification came through fine, but the video wont play (play back failed or video not found)

Is anyone else having issues with their doorbell? I am on a DB1 from Uniden and so far this week, on two separate occasions, the doorbell is acting weird.
1st occasion, I magically got a package at my front door, without the doorbell recording activity of a person dropping the package.
2nd occasion, the thumbnail of the video playback shows the mailman throwing the package, but when I playback the actual video, it does not show him do that, but instead shows him walking away already. So it did not record him entering the field, throwing the package, and walking away.

I am currently on version v1.4.62 build 171225

Did you try to view the video as soon as you for the notification? I think that sometime cause gap in the recording

Nope, I did not.

Seems like this doorbell is nice for the most part, but clearly it has quirks which I am not sure if it is worth it over the Ring Pro which I replaced it with. :-/

How's the wifi signal? I found the weak WiFi cause a lot of issue with borderline signal that may work well normally, but any additional event like motion that add to the strain causes hic up. Using the extended antenna really helped a lot

Well I have a Ubiquiti setup. I have a UniFi AP Pro upstairs and I have a UniFi AP Pro downtairs, and the doorbell is no more than 5 feet from the one upstairs if I were to take a measurer and measure the distance direct. Granted there is a brick wall separating it, but the Ring Pro had no issues connecting and the Ring Floodlight doesnt have an issue either, considering it is further away distance wise from the AP Pro.

Yes, this doorbell is known to have VERY weak wifi. I have to run an antenna cable to have an antenna like 4 feet from the bell through a wooden exterior wall to get it to work decently. check my post a page or 2 back, I will have to take a picture of my current final install with a directional flat panel antenna when I get home tonight

For your reference the doorbell was not happy with a -60dbm signal strength as measure from my Samsung S9 phone outside right by the doorbell, my phone and another Wifi cam above the doorbell worked just fine with that signal strength. It worked fine with the stubby antenna on the extension cable at about -56dbm. now with the flat panel antenna I'm getting -40ish dbm which keep it very happy

try standing the UniFi on the side so the edge of the disc/circle is directed toward the doorbell as generally the wifi are designed to radiate horizontally and not that much vertically especially very close to a normal dipole antenna, the signal strength directly above or below the antenna can be weak. What Dbi are you measuring by the doorbell

I’m not sure where the leak is coming from. I may take out the board. Load it with toilet paper and soak it with dyed water to see where the Leak actually is located.
So it's been rainy and cooler here the past couple of days and today there's condensation in dome. Based on what you saw, do you think you can seal it up?

The wifi is indeed VERY poor. I have an Open Mesh access point, 5 meters away from the unit with only a thick brick wall separating it. If I flash the firmware of the unit again to the latest, the doorbell runs stable for a few weeks but after that the doorbell becomes very unstable..

Shitty design imho

PS: This is condensation

Agreed. Trying to figure out where to apply some silicone to seal it up...

I took the thing apart and I'm pretty sure the dome itself doesn't seal off correctly. IP54? Don't think so..

Can anyone tell the difference between the DS-KB6003-WIP and the DS-KB6403-WIP. Is the 6403 just a newer hardware revision of the same product?

6403 run off 12v DC and does not connecting to existing doorbell chime (AC chime)

Just finished up reading all 45 pages, and am looking for some guidance/clarification. I am currently running Blue Iris, with only one camera installed (just starting out). My next space to add a camera to is my front door alcove. The doorbell is on the side wall of the alcove (perpendicular to the entry door). Sometimes it will be hit by direct sunlight. I am in Florida, and it gets very humid, lots of rain in afternoons. While some have recommended the Dahau Starlites (mini dome, dual starlight, etc), the "larger" form factor, has been given the thumbs down by the wife. Additionally, getting a Cat5 cable to the location required would not be easy, as it is stucco over concrete block, and I am not interested in a conduit-type solution here.

In researching doorbell cams, I came across this thread. Here is what *I think* I've learned, and am requesting confirmation/experiences.

Goals:
1) Integrate with Blue Iris, and let Blue Iris send me all of my notifications, record 24/7, and set alert points (like it does with other camera)
2) Don't really want video feeds/alerts going to cloud service. Want to keep them inside my firewall, not accessible from WAN. Only accessible from within LAN (or over VPN)
3) Be able to turn off IR, as I've seen some terrible night images in this thread. Have no issue with disconnecting connectors, or de-soldering.

1) The Dahau DB-11 seemed like a good option, but does not seem to be ready for prime time. And I am not sure where to purchase it from.
2) This thread talks about RCA, LTS, HIK, UNIDEN... basically all rebranded versions of the same cameras.
  • All require cloud service
  • RCA was preferable to some due to no branding (until the new RCA version)
  • Where can the RCA version (old one) be purchased? I see the new version on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GN355R6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bh-MBbGGDH581?tag=ipctk-20)
  • All can be flashed when new firmware is released
  • Can Wireless IP be set manually (i.e. not through my router DHCP)?
  • Is there any "Non-Brick" protection, i.e. factory-reset button/procedure?
  • It looks like the Uniden version is no longer available locally at my neighboring Home Depots... Perhaps they are not making these rebrands?
Anything I missed? Suggestions welcome.
