Overlay camera data onto Image?

Hi all,

I am trying to find the easiest way to overlay information from a Dahua camera onto the OSD.

The information I am trying to overlay is the current zoom status (available via API using devVideoInput.cgi?action=getFocusStatus).

I am aware that I could write an external script that would deliver this to the OSD using the API and have the skills to do this but wondered if there was a simple way of putting this information to the image without involving a 3rd party device?

eg. Is there a dahua syntax that would allow me to add api accessible data to the overlay text fields via system variables?

Any input would be much appreciated.

within SmartPSS under Camera -> Encode -> Overlay, you can define the Zoom in factor as an overlay information (so no extra code needed):



It looks than like = "Z:1":

I've just setup SmartPSS 2.02.1 and had a look under Camera -> Encode -> Overlay. Unfortunately I don't see an OSD listing, I am only presented with the first of the 3 listings in your screenshot (Privacy Mask, Channel Title, Period Title.

Are the overlay options camera specific? (I'm using an IPC-HFW4431R-Z) or are you using a more up to date SmartPSS?

No, I am also using SmartPSS 2.02.1 (which is the actual version), but with a different camera = Dahua SD59430U-HNI.

Please check, if you have in the camera settings via a browser, also that three points, than it seems, that your camera dont support that = need to make a change request to Dahua development.

I don't have that option on my IPC-HFW4431R-Z (see attachment). Does anyone with a 4431 have more options than in my screenshot?
