I can... I have the same "problem" with mine Dahua also.

The "problem" is the shutter speed in the "Auto" modus (SmartPSS -> camera -> properties -> exposure -> mode).

From what I saw till today, Dahua uses in the Auto modus a slow shutter speed, to bring in more light/details to the picture, BUT than things in motion are not sharp.

I played a little in the shutter priority mode, got even bikers sharp (but with very high picture noise), and only at daylight, in the evening the pictures were all to dark, so I went back to auto modus... but stay unhappy with that.

What is the best shutter speed i can see you are at .5?
Also do you have to use a SD card to playback with SmartPSS? Apparently even though I am setup to see the NVR it does not play back. I will keep reading the manual looking for answers, just thought I would pick your brain a bit since you are already understanding the software.
Thanks

I am on "Auto".

I just changed it to "Shutter Priority", that you can see the config point.

I like taking fotos with my Canon D60... And it is always the same "as faster the shutter speed, as higher must be the ISO (at bad light), as more noice you get on the picture"

With my Canon D60 I need 1/2000 to shut a car with 60km/h sharp (at daylight), so I tryed at Dahua 1/2000 (you have to go to "manual Interval") and that brings a sharp picture, but also noice.

I have a SD card in the camera, but dont use it (I hoped, that all alarm pictures and movies can save on the CD card and parallel on my NAS... but it dont), so I save everything on my NAS.

Than access with my WIN PC and wath the pictures with Irvanview and the movies with the dahua "smart Player" (sadly the play dont save the movie ratio, you have to change it to 16:9).

pretty easy... you create a directory on your NAS Volume, that at the camera WebIF "Storage -> Destination" you check under Path "record" and "snapshot" FTP.

After you go the tab "FTP" and "eanble" FTP, after fill out Server Adress = your NAS IP, Port is normaly 21, Username + Password (how you login in your NAS), Remote Directory which you create bevor) on your NAS.

Then "test" it and it should work.

Here is a screenshot of my config (with some xxx):

But after you will see how incomprehensible Dahua path for saving is. See my thread to that topic... sadly till now, nobody could help. Klick.

So the wife came home and sure enough 7 files .dav showed up in the share, but only one will open using Smart Player I cant click on any of the other ones even trashing the one in smart player and clicking on a different file it opens the same one and only a split second as if it is a picture. I will keep researching for the proper way to open the files.
Thanks
BTW what camera do you use for PTZ and how would you rate it?

I have several PTZ but will end in 5x DS59430U-HNI (4MP) around my house. Picture quality at daytime is perfect, at nighttime weaker than the 2MP starlight Dahua's (but I knew that).

You can also play the .dav videos with VLC (with a change in the VLC Config):

Go to Tools -> Settings -> show all setting" -> change Demuxer from "Auto" to H.264 ;-)

After you have to change it to "Auto", to see all videos as before.

I found that hint in the web.
