Hi all,

My Hikvision DS-2CD2142FWD-I 2.8 mm dome camera has once again failed with the IR filter not activating. It's only 6 months old. This is the 2nd time that it has failed so I am looking to replace it with something better.

I am based in the UK so I am limited to what I can buy. I would prefer to get it from Amazon UK as I have gift vouchers.

What is a good replacement camera?

Thanks.

Assuming that another Hikvision would be a good choice as you may have a Hikvision NVR -
Especially if the field of view is low-light, you would be very pleased and impressed with a DS-2CD2335FWD ultra-low-light turret camera.

If it's the IR cut filter sticking, it would be easy enough to replace it if you feel like some delicate disassembly.
Or I could take it off your hands - I'm gathering IP cameras for my local Mens Shed, I'm doing a CCTV installation for them.

I'm flexible as I use Blue Iris. I had a look at the turret camera you mentioned and it's a bit out of my price range. :(

Depends on how much you offer it for, assuming Amazon won't accept it back for full refund.

Spend the extra on the hikvision low light turret alastair recommended or the dahua starlight equivalent which includes audio. Its well worth a few extra dollars. They are exceptional in low light.

OK, thanks. I had a look for DS-2CD2335FWD on Amazon UK and they're around £190 inc delivery ($250) - elsewhere, I can get it for about £120 ($160), but I can't use my Amazon vouchers which means I end up paying more out of my pockets. :(

I'm sure you'll find something else to buy from Amazon

I don't mean another camera.... I mean you can use your Amazon credits on a future purchase I'm sure you'll need some other item Amazon sells... Also see dahua Starlight threads
