There's not much in the way of decent video quality, wired in, discreet, IP rated cameras that are reasonably priced. You could look at some of the regular cctv bullet style cameras that have a SD card recording in them, assuming you'd only want to view the footage in case of an incident. Then you wouldn't need a separate DVR module. Have a look in the Dahua forum. Assuming you could mount the camera behind a plastic panel, you'd only need a 20mm hole for the lense.Does anyone have experience with or recommendations for a motorcycle specific dash cam? Looking for bike mounted wired in, not helmet mounted.
Although I've seen a nightime video that looked good, the car was being driven very slowly. CCTV cameras generally don't seem to work well for mobile use. The issue is often bit rate. Bit rates can be low on CCTV because very little changes from frame to frame. In moving vehicles, everything in the frame is changing constantly. A typical CCTV camera uses around 8-10mbs bit rate whereas many dashcams are these days around the 20mbs range with the better quality ones using as high as 60mbs or more. So what you might gain in a better lens etc, you lose in the encoding. There's not much in the way of decent video quality, wired in, discreet, IP rated cameras that are reasonably priced. I decided buy for all my fleet vehicle.Im using Eyecam SV88 on https://www.eyerideonline.com. They have military-grade outdoor camera, adjustable for side, front or rear views, high-resolution 1/3” CCD, night vision up to 65ft and vandal-proof IP69 enclosed design. Use about a year and very satisfied.
