Here is a listing of some of the new hik low light 4k cameras with 1/2 sensors. I dont know about pricing and availability.

This models support audio and alarm unlike the dahua 4k 1/1.8 sensor lite cameras.
DS-2CD2685G0-IZS - Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co. Ltd.

This has no audio but does support sd card unlike the fixed dahua 1/1.8 1831 (the varifocal dahua does 2831, does have sd card)
DS-2CD2T85G1-I5/I8 - Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co. Ltd.
DS-2CD2085G1-I - Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co. Ltd.

Not a fan of 4K for most security applications. The aspect ratio simply doesn't work well. Used some 4K Hikvision stuff on a very big project (huge client w/ 100 locations) and regretted it. The 16:9 stuff limits your view a lot.

Like their 6MP stuff much better due to the aspect ratio. We mount fairly high to avoid tampering.

Most 2mp/4mp have the same aspect ratio...mounting high limits what you can see.

I realize I am a bit late to this thread but this type of new 8MP cameras seem to be a game changer by offering good high MP count and good night visibility.
The question is will they perform better than a 4MP or 2MP Dark Fighter at night. Considering these cameras have a 1/2" versus a 1/2.5" sensor found in their 4MP variant (DS-2CD2045FWD-I) It should out perform it in every way, or it could just have the same ratio of MP to sensor size and the only benefit is in it digital zoom capabilities.
thoughts?

No they likely won't be close to the 2mp in low light..stop reading specs and coming to erroneous conclusions. That is why you are stuck with poor performing 4mp cameras.

Agree 100%. You can tell very little from the spec sheet. Only way these products can be fully evaluated is when they appear in the wild.

The Hik demos from the new full color super low light stuff look very impressive. I'm eagerly anticipating getting my hands on one of the models I mentioned in this prior thread. LTS said that they will likely appear sometime in Q1.

Would really like to get away from IR. IR-->spider webs-->false alarms for motion.
