Does anyone know what the setting in the Dahua encode section of Smart Code "open" vs "closed" does? Isn't H265 already a smart codec?

I've seen this in some poorly done Chinese to English translations user interface translations. They use Open/Closed instead of On/Off

Open = On
Closed = Off

no, 265 is not a smart codec...the smart uses less bandwidth but may not be compatible with some vms/nvr's and also disables some ivs functions.

I think that what smart codec does is, among other things, change the encoding to not use normal full-frame iframes. A lot of decoders don't like that.

it doesn't sound like there is a compelling reason to have it (smart codec) "open" or on? I will turn it off.
