Unfortunately upgrade didn't solve my problem. Motion detection doesn't work with dahua nvr. :( But it isn't related to this topic.

It doesn't try to access any tftp server and there is no unknown or magic udp packet send by it.
It's a directed UDP packet after the ARP response for 192.0.0.128, not a broadcast.
It doesn't try to access any tftp server
It only tries to access the Hikvision tftp updater.
Do you have the PC set to 192.0.0.128 ?
If not, you won't see that traffic.
Are you running wireshark on a mirrored port in promiscuous mode?

My guess is that some cameras have tftp disabled. Is there a way to tell camera to enable it?
You could check that the probe for the Hikvision tftp updater is active by setting the PC IP address to 192.0.0.128, run the updater but with no digicap.dav payload in the folder, allow the inbound firewall rule, and see if you get the 'client at 192.0.0.64 test the tftp server' (or siimilar).
It's possible, though unlikely, that the tftp server address has been tweaked in the amboot environment variables.
That would change the behaviour.

The problem was similar to already mentioned. Connecting camera and laptop to switch made the problem go away and tftp worked nicely. I guess my usb--eth dongle established link too slowly. Camera upgraded succesfully!

Hi Everyone!

Seeking som guidance here.

Im trying to get my two ip cameras upgraded to newer english fw in order to support TLS - Gmail (SSL not working anymore). Been using Yandex mail SSL service for last few years but now it has stopped working :(.

Been trying to get confirmed that these to cameras are doable to upgrade either by this way described here or by any other means.

Both have been aquired from Ebay, chinese grey cameras:

Hikvision-DS-2CD3132F-IW

HIKVISION DS-2CD3132-I

Thanks in advance!

Yes, these are R0 series cameras that can be converted to EN and fully updated by using the brickfixV2 method :
Unbrick and fully upgrade your R0 / DS-2CD2x32 IP cameras -
R0 / DS-2CD2x32 BrickfixV2 brick recovery and full upgrade tool - enhanced.

But be sure to get the devType value by using the prtHardInfo shell command
The -IW variant may not be in the existing devType codes list in the post.

Ohh, Im a newbie to this so please bear with me. Do I use this prtHardInfo shell command in HxD u mean? I watched video but never saw this command used. im gonna watch video more closely now to really get a grasp of each step.

The one part i didn't get watching video first time was when u change the 02 to 01 on the second row i HxD?

This would be done over telnet with the camera in its current working state, using a terminal program such as PuTTY.
I'm assuming that old firmware still has the 'Enable telnet' option in the security settings of the web GUI.
It's only because I don't have the devType listed for the DS-2CD3132F-IW model.

What I'd recommend is to read the ste-by-step guide and the enhanced MTD hack instructions - then use the video to confirm understanding.

Another +1 for the excellent curation. A bricked 2432, not only now fully operational, but patched. Much appreciated.

Thank you Alastair. Just fixed up two bricked R0 cameras thanks to you. Yes - I did only have one bricked but then my amatuer unguided ateempts at fixing the failed one trashed the other. Now I have latest firmware up and running.

Helo I have a camera model DS-2cd3125FV2-I chinese only, the owner is a chinese national and he buy stuff on taobao all the time(far cheaper than here in Argentina...) but he has a NVR and several cameras working whit latin america firmware version and this new cheap camera keeps failing to connect due to language errors. Can I use this method to put the firmware of a DS-2cd3125G0 on the cheap chinese version???

No, this model of camera has a completely different architecture from the R0 series.
The 'hardware signature block' is held in a security chip, not the main flash memory, so a conversion to EN from CN requires 'hacked firmware'.

Try connecting as an ONVIF device, that may not give a language mismatch, depending on the version of NVR firmware.
If it works - motion detection would be possible, but not any 'smart events'.
