Midnight alarm sirens? How do you maintain always available camera feed after lights out?

If my alarm tripped in the middle of the night, and there wasn't instant access to my cameras, I wouldn't know if there was a genuine threat, or if a shovel fell over in the garage.

My planned solution is to create a Blue Iris/PC/Dahua system, built from what I'm learning in this forum, and have an always-on tablet streaming my cameras live. That way if something wakes me up, I can see my cameras in seconds.

This seems like it would work, but as an IP camera beginner I'm not sure, and am genuinely interested in hearing what you more experienced camera guys have to say on this, so hopefully it's okay to post this.

Yes, this will work, other's have did the same with tablets. Work to improve your alarm to prevent false alarms, it should be extremely rare for it to occur.

@JDJ Yes, I have this working on my side. BI for cameras, DSC for alarm system, Vera for home automation. I use Windows tablets showing live camera streams via UI3.

Good to know. I haven't had a false alarm since I switched out my motion detectors for magnetic switches and glass break detectors about a year ago. Thanks Looney2ns.

Thanks actran. After having a DVR and a one location camera monitor for all this time, I'm going to appreciate having it on multiple tablets.
