Im planning to position 8 IP-Cams outdoor along my fence. I just saw this nice tool "Camera Calculator" from a company called IPVM. It's to expensive for me to pay for this service. Do know alternative tools or how are you guys doing your plannig/calculating to find the ideal positions for the cam outside?

You can use the IPVM calculator for free with one camera at a time.

There this one as well: :: VIVOTEK ::

Download the Dahua ToolBox, and there is one in it too.

Calculating gets You to a good starting point for your real world surveys. For surveys I use a remote cam on a extendable pole. Push it down into the ground or tie strap it to something, move it up and down till You dial in the desired view. Now You can lock it down and get it right the first time (I hate do overs). There is plenty of time to do it right, but never enough time to do it over. Mike/EZ
