Honestly. I'm using the camera to check on my dog in back of my house while I am working on the computer at the other end of the house, but I would like to be able to see other directions. So security is not the reason for the camera, but just making sure my little trouble maker is doing okay. Camera has bad nighttime reviews but I really do not need it for that.

I want to get a P/T camera so I can change the pan direction while I'm not home via mobile.

It's not that the Foscam is terrible. Foscam has been people's first camera for years, why, because it's cheap and they sell tons of cameras. So what will happen? First, it won't likely last, I've had Foscams last from a few days to about a year but maybe they have improved since. Their low end like this does not have an IR filter, meaning it's a night camera designed to work with the built in IR LEDs, so during the day, colors will shift, like trees may appear pink, I've had black jackets appear light blue. Next is VGA resolution at 15fps, ouch. The field of view in the specs is 40 degrees which contradicts the lens spec.

For seeing if you dog is alive, this will work. I would suggest paying slightly more and getting it straight from foscam.us so you have a direct line to support.

Thanks. I got it from their ebay channel. I made an offer of 149 and they accepted.

Have to admit I'm a little excited. I do not expect much at all. But would be cool if I can pan via mobile.

Is there any way to upgrade the camera components to give a better picture or pan faster if I wanted to do that in the future?

I have to say I am pretty impressed with the Foscam I purchased. There is a setting to speed up the Pan/Tilt and it turned out to be pretty quick.

Also set it up to use on mobile pretty easily. Thanks to this video
