I've been lurking here for a few months trying to gain knowledge about BI while I've been setting it up and tweaking it. This sure is a great site for helping. I currently have 5 ip cams (4-2mp and 1-1.2mp) going right now. I have learned so much on what to do and what not to do with BI. I do believe that I am at the point where I can just let it run and not worry about it.

I do have the budget minded cameras for China but am hooping to supplement my system with the good camera from now on. Finances have been tight and in order to set up a system, I did what I could to save some cash. My NVR is an older Dell Optiplex 3010 with the 3rd Gen Intel Core i5-3450 Pro cessor (Quad Core, 6MB, 3.10GH z w/HD2500 Graphics) and 8 gigs or ram. I did manage to get the machine from work for free so that helped the budget. I put a 2tb purple drive in it and remove the graphics card to use the onboard. The machine seems to be running very good and with minimal overhead and lower processor usage.

I will say that BI is great to work with. Most things are pretty straight forward but having the help files and this forum make it that much better.

Enough of my rambling on, Below is a screen shop of the NVR showing some info while BI is running. I'm looking forward to learning more and helping out.

Welcome, From The Central Coast of CA. The Info here has been invaluable to Me. I started with BI using a laptop with an AMD processor, and xp pro (still have it), but it never did work quite right. I landed here late one night, and after reading the Wiki, and suckin up a brain full of info, I realized the sun was up and I needed to start over If I wanted it correct (hardware and software). Of corse now that I'm a informed technician, life will never be the same LOL. Cuz if it ain't broke, it's time for an upgrade. That's where I'm at today full system upgrade. My Hat's Off to all in the Community, for such a compressive site. Mike/EZ
