I am looking for a starlight camera (under $100) for my front door. I will be buying it of eBay or Ali as I live outside US.

- Should have built in micro SD slot
- POE

I don't care much about verifocal or other face detection features.
For around $65 I can get the HDW4631C-A but it doesn't have onboard storage.

that's not a starlight camera. Expect to pay at least 150+ for a starlight camera. I haven't seen one for any less

The best option for that location might be the 4231 wedge dome. It is a great camera at a great price from Andy. i would use the 2.8 for doorbell area or the 3.6 if not to get a few more pixels per foot.

Aliexpress.com : Buy New arrival 2MP Starlight IR Mini Dome Network camera IPC HDBW4231F AS,free DHL shipping from Reliable Surveillance Cameras suppliers on Empire Technology Co., Ltd
Is there a version of this with built in mic and audio outputs? Can't seem to find one.

I'm tagging along cause I'm in the market for a new camera as well.

The starlite fixed turret with Mic an SD card is available for about $100 with slow shipping.
Don't get the mini dome it has weak ir and is subject to IR reflection.

I do not use the IR on the mini-domes. i use LED white lighting for full color recording 24-7. The turret is a better choice for IR although it is substantially larger if that matters in the location.

I also use it on my front door - and highly like the mini-dome wedge. I also keep the porch light on when it is dark, so I do not use the IR lights in the camera at all.

The larger turret models ( IPC-HDW4xxx ) have a lower WAF and thus were a no go at eye level.

A newbie question: if you always keep the light on, is there any advantage of using starlight camera? I thought starlight camera is good for low light situation.

How powerful in lumens is you light.

I have outside lighting around my house a total of 20,000 lumens. I still use starlight cameras.

I got impression that starlight cameras are good at low light situation with trade off of lower resolution. With brighter light, a higher resolution non-starlight cameras can do the job well. I must be wrong :)

Hi @2ndLeaf

Normally porch lights will be dimmer than light during the day, so yes the starlight camera performs well under those conditions as it can remain in color mode all night without issues.

Of course, some of the newer sensors now help higher resolution cameras do better also in lower light conditions.
