Forgive me, I've read the help file and scoured the posts here but I'm unable to find a solution to this problem.

I have 2 machines. One's an i5 laptop running BlueIris (limited storage) and the other is an old dualcore desktop which I use pretty much just as a big network hard drive.

I've attempted to set Blue Iris to record to it's 'own' machine (the i5) for the first 7 days after which the footage howuld be moved to the desktop, keeping 3 weeks worth. So in total I should have 4 weeks recording, with anything older being deleted.

Here's the settings for NEW

Here's the settings for STORED

But I constantly run out of space.

So it looks like the the NEW folder is actually being allowed to grow way past the 200GB/7DAYS setting. It's actually around 570GB (verified by physically checking the folder size in explorer).

Checking the individual folder for my BACK-HIGH camera, it includes footage ranging from today (13/12) back to 26/11. That camera alone is around 100GB. I have 8 cams.

Checking another of the cam folders (DECKING), the same appears to be true, i.e. today back to 26/11.

Checking the physical stored folders, I find (eg) for BACK-HIGH I acually have footage going from 26/11 back to september! The total size of the STORED folder on the desktop clocks in at around 750GB.

Can anyone please assist ? I just want to store a week on the main system (new) and then 3 weeks on the desktop (stored).

Cheers!

On the 'New' drive, try unchecking the 'limit clip age', then it'll go by the 200GB size only.

Never use days to limit recording. Only use storage size. Also your screen shots do not show your allocations for alerts.
If you have a password on your network drive, you will need to search and read on how to change the bi service used name password to allow access to the Nas.

BlueIris: Record to NAS issues

Do not allocate 100% available space to bi. Allocate 90% or leave 20gb free.
A laptop is not designed to run 24/7. It will also slow down when the heat load increases. Plan on setting up a true bi PC.

Apparently when swapping PCs a while back, I neglected to alter the blue iris service user/pass, which I have now rectified.

I'd actually been running my current front room pc (which is actually an i5 laptop permanently hooked up to a monitor/mouse/keyb) as for around 4 years as a blue iris server 24/7. I only swapped it over with a newer, faster (still i5 tho) laptop because I decided to add more cameras. Plus the slower of the 2 laptops was more than adequate for my front room internet use.

So here are my new settings:

....AND repaired the db.

This is what I have now.

Could someone explain to me why ...

"...Never use days to limit recording. Only use storage size...." ?

Also, thanks for the input so far. The eventual plan is to move onto an i7 dedicated, but money is tight and it's not a priority. :)
