Is there a higher end NVR system that is closer in performance to something like Blue Iris? I've looked at standard systems like Hikvision, but they always have all that plug-in BS. I think their plug-ins no longer work with Safari reliably now.

Systems like Digitial Watchdogs Blackjack series are great in that they have a good web GUI and support VMS on both PC and Mac. Their mobile app kind of sucks for the end user in my opinion however, and they are quite expensive.

Is there some elusive system that exists in between these two systems.

This is for a business owner keeping an eye on his restaurant that owns only Mac's at home is very non-tech saavy.

Any suggestions???

Blackjack is simply and overpriced pc on which they install IPVMS (north american version of network optix). You can install it on a 100 dollar i5-3570 pc no issues for the average install. 70 bux per cam licensing but you get lifetime upgrades to new versions.
Surprisingly most of the mobile apps for these expensive vms suck. For example, avigilon 60-150+ per camera does not have inbound audio for listening, only a talk function.
IPVM.COM recently did a mobile app shootout (though dw/no was not on the list), I was surpised to see how bad some of these apps are.
VMS Mobile App Shootout - Avigilon, Dahua, Exacq, Genetec, Hikvision, Milestone

The blue iris mobile app is significantly better than those for the "premium" vms. The only thing BI is missing is multi camera recorded playback in the app.

I will say that AvertX has a nice interface. They have a really nice ability to log into a web GUI including Chrome, where all you truly need is an email password, - not extra port DDNS BS. The interface is dumbed down and pretty simple. It costs more and it still appears to be a version of a Hikvision camera system, but they did a nice job with making it more end user friendly!
