I am wanting a wifi camera / doorbell in 1 unit. Blue Iris will pick up motion detection. Do these units not do that?

OK, without reading 49 pages, is there an answer? If these products wont do that, are there any on the market that do?

ok - some progress to report in case it helps anyone or points me in the right direction to fix them

1. Connecting via the internal network usually doesn't work. However, if I connect via an external network (mobile data) it works. Oddly, then I usually connect via the internal network afterwards. Very strange.

2. I get a "parameter error" when trying to change the http port or server port using the webgui. Not sure why. I get the green checks next to the new values but get an error when trying to save.

3. New transformer on the way. The doorbell rebooted a few times last night when pressing the button or using the two way audio. I checked and have the builder grade 16V 10VA.

4. I had to make a spacer today because the doorbell was slightly wider than the flat space between two moldings where the doorbell is located. I didn't want to cut the molding because this DB1 model is definitely not the long term answer. I want one that does the 180 deg view vertically instead of horizontally so I can see any packages. I also want 5GHz connectivity.

That's all for now. Thanks for the contributors in this thread.

Edit: 5. I can access the camera webgui remotely using a fixed IP address but if I use my domain name, I get an error 400. After poking around the internet concerning this issue, it seems like the webserver software in the camera is not set up properly to enable this. If anyone has made this work, please let me know.

Just got the LTS version of the this camera and installed it. Everything went pretty smooth and I am getting motion detected notifications and receiving calls when the button is pressed. I also added it to zoneminder which is working fine as well. I was also able to share the camera with my wife and she now receives all motion notifications and can interact with the camera. The only thing she doesn't get is the call when someone presses the button. I read (although pretty fast) through the thread and didn't see anyone that has this working (just someone with similar issue as me).

Any ideas or am I out of luck here?

I just got the LaView version of this, installed the side door today.
After working out a few issues, I have both the front & side door units working.

Both my Android phone (Moto G5+) and my tablet (Samsung Tab E, Verizon variant) receive the push notifications for motion & when a button is pushed, the "call".
I was 25 miles from home this afternoon and a neighbor helped me test. I'm thrilled with the quick response, less 2 seconds for a notification and it was the same whether out & about or at home.
Hope that helps.

That does help, thanks! Are you logged in to the same account on both devices? Maybe I will give that a try instead of having my wife signing in under a different account and me just sharing the camera with her.

Oh yes I'd bet you need 1 account. When I had problems originally, I got p/o'ed at LaView tech support (clueless), so I reset both units, registered a new account and used a different set of instructions (from online, a different brand) to set them up and everything worked. That's when I realized the instructions I used were not for the doorbell units. Luckily I set them up in the house with a 20 v transformer and just kept at it until I got them working.
Good Luck,

While I can understand the not so nice answer you received, I also understand having to read 49 pages just to get a simple answer, so here you go...

I have the LaView brand. You are able to "set" the motion sensitivity & "define" the area. I just got mine working today and made the adjustments at night. So I'll see how well they adjust/work tomorrow in the daytime.
Good Luck,

My brief understanding is that you can use the firmware update from LaView to update the first generation of RCA HSDB1 and will get the same functionality? The only thing I like better witht he RCA is that it doesnt say "RCA" on the front. Is this a true statement: Laview/Clare/LTS/RCA are all Hikvision and there are no diffferences in hardware?

That's correct. For the record, I wasn't trying to be rude by referring you to the earlier posts and apologize if that's how it came off. There are just a few possible problems you may run into and requirements you should be aware of before deciding to purchase. With that being said there are also lots of DB's out there that work perfectly fine.

The best way to avoid having those problems (as well as the headache trying to fix them) is to research and educate yourself, hence the reference to the previous pages!

If you do decide to go with this doorbell I would highly suggest upgrading it right after the initial setup.

That's nice to read. I ran a website and can see both sides of that issue. Sometimes I wanted to just boot the "I had to read, so do you" members.

Thank You for explaining Happy Holidays Ryan

Add: The motion sensitivity and detection area changes I made last night appear to have worked. I am not getting as many alerts as I was.
They may still too sensitive, it seems the rain is setting off the detect. The side door doesn't have the street in view, it's protected from direct rain and it's going off. ???

Hi folks, I recently picked up the Laview Doorbell camera as an inexpensive test to start setting up video cams on my house. It's installed, fully updated, and works with the Laview mobile application. However, I can't seem to configure it to share video with any NVR software. I've tried both of QNAP's surveillance station apps, and finally gave up and bought Blue Iris. Blue Iris detects the ONVIF camera, but I get an RTSP: 404 Not Found error on the Camera window. Any suggestions on how I can get this doorbell camera working with any of these NVRs? Thank you!

Thanks for the clarification. It is very appreciated! So I purchased off Amazon RCA version. What I want to make sure of, because it doesnt follow what I typically do, is you are suggesting to set it up first, then do a firmware update? Normally I do it the other way around..

Also, is it true I can use anyones HIKI firmware? Do you or anyone else have instructions? Which version of firmware is the latest (I read somewhere RCA is way behind).

Any insight is greatly appreciated

I agree, I usually do it the other way around too. Unfortunately the doorbell has to be online and fully working to upgrade through the app or LAN.

I've never tested any other firmwares but from what I've read they are all the same. You bet, here's instructions to upgrade it on your local network as well as a link to the newest firmware available: H Series Doorbell Camera Quickstart Guide - Nelly's Security

My first attempt to update I chose the "downloaded" link in step 3 that provided a different file than that link in the big blue banner at the top of the page that I didn't even read...
